Most versatile 2-pedal (OD) stack

i haven't tried the SHOD in front of LGW yet.....hmmmm......


but i am WITH YOU -- tired of TS style OD. using them since they came out in 79-80.

like the "zingy stringy" quality of SHOD

trying to narrow my working board down to the essentials......SWF, SHOD, LGW seem to be staying.....

or else i'm just gonna have to get a BIGGER BOARD

i was STUPID...in a fit of pedal fueled GAS, i let my DRD go....stupid, stupid move....i miss it.

it can be a finicky pedal at times, and i sort of liked BBOD a bit better, but it's finicky too.

i think i will have a DRD again though.....nothing like it.

lesson learned.

i am being smarter, and NOT letting go of any of my bjfe or MP pedals ever again.

i let go of TOP and SWAW, and miss both of those too. stupid..........

ha ha... regrets, regrets. I feel the same way too about bjfs. Sold a SWF and regretted it big time. Luckily for me BJ made me another and with a bit more grunt added. Miss my BBOD. You'd think I would have learned... and yet, yesterday I sold my honeybee! It was a tough choice between that and the SHOD. I couldn't justify or afford to have both unfortunately. So now my dirt is down to SHOD>SWF>Model H. A great combo - amazing range of sounds singly and combined. Would love to try a SYOD and compare it to the H.

no, it was just a standard DRD.....early one though, #024.

i didn't get a chance to try the baltic blue that newark had, that one was voiced for a strat.

While I know the question was about dirt pedals, I've found the Red Rooster Booster can turn low gain pedals into monsters. I think it's the best BJF available but very underrated.

i am rapidly discovering that the PGC and any of the other dirt boxes seem to work REALLY well together as a two pedal stack

EGDM--HBOD is a pretty versatile OD stack. The EGDM really brightens up and adds sustain to the HBOD, but the EGD's Voxy characteristics don't overshadow the HB's touch sensitivity. I have a DRD on the way and can't wait to try driving that through the HBOD.

Your Timmy would probably sound great with the SHOD... that's just a guess, but I'd try it if I were you.

Arrgh! Too many choices, too little cash. Bobby's SWF clip posted a few days ago has me intrigued by that now, as well, but it's out of bounds for the budget.

Thanks for that comment - been wondering about the lack of mention of EGDM. Does it function well on low-gain settings in more of an OD role? My recollection of clips I've heard were more into actual distortion territory.

Timmy has been on the shelf since I've been playing with SHOD>LGW. A series of auditions in recent weeks has favored that stack. But I do intend to go back and stack some of my other ODs with both SHOD and LGW. The Timmy's wonderfully effective tone controls certainly make it quite versatile so I suspect you're right about its potential in the stack.
