So... SHOD... @ 18v!

Postby NewarkWilder » Sun May 31, 2009 11:38 pm

noticed earlier this evening that the little instruction booklet says the SHOD can take up to 18v... so i tried it tonight and its freaking huge! my KOT officially sounds thin by comparison. the SHOD is just having its way with all my other overdrives. oh, also, PGC + SHOD =

its gonna be a while before it sinks in for everybody just how good this thing is i think
My BJFE- Some special ones. Some standard ones. I love them all just the same.

Just tried the 18V but I don´t know...
The pedal DOES get bolder sounding, but one will loose a certain amount of "chunieyness" as the dynamics will increase (even more 8) ).

The amp used was a 50W/Hiwatt style amp - that is totally unforgiving regarding high end/dynamics - and running the SHOD at 18V will probably suit my EL84 amp better.

As always it all comes down to personal taste + which amps are beeing used, but the SHOD at 18V does sound amazing!

hi folks,

played my SHOD for two nights now in a row and it KILLS! but the last thing i need is even more open-ness and dynamics. its got plenty, pretty scary if You have to play 240 bpm bebop tunes You kinda wish for a more "friendly" or, compressed sound
but for applications like rock rhythm guitar it might be desirable to make it even more open sounding.
summary: like all "uncompressed" pedals, without mercy You get what you put in, and thatswhy it will make me play better. first nite i took along my KOT and the Baby Blue, but tonite on the second gig, they both disappeared. it was just the SHOD and my T-Rex Delay. talkin bout DYNAMICS!! this thing is not a pedal, its a friggin amp! and that goes for LGW and BBOD too of course but this here is my favorite amp 8)
the most satisfiying pedal purchase in 2 years for me. just what i was lookin for!!!

hell yeah man! and yeah i'm not saying omg you have to run it at 18v i just thought it was cool that it can take it. i definitely have to echo what you said about what a satisfying purchase it has been though, especially with the insanely high expectations to live up to

and i'm not gigging but i already know the SHOD and a booster is all i'd want or need! i'm about to sell off every other ODish pedal i have. It really is that good!!

i believe it......i have actually taken the LGW, turned gain off, turned body and volume up, and gotten a respectable almost clean boost from it. the SHOD would probably do that as well!
