I'm not a technically minded guitarist and seek more specialist knowledge here folks. (e.g. Bjorn or Donner).
I have read that running an EGDM at 18v e.g. 2 inputs from a pedal Power Plus 2 with a Y cable allows greater headroom
and can be a good way to run that pedal.
I'm wondering (through necessity),
whether I can run 2 BJF pedals e.g. a a PGC and an EGDM
OR a HB and a DRD using an Analogman "Y"cable?
I am quoting from Analogman's website below and Mike assured me this would be ok to use such a cable on 2 BJF pedals as mentioned.
Allows you to power two normal Boss style (2.1mm barrel connectors) effects with one power cable.
Has one female end connected in parallel to two male ends. Plug your power supply (Boss PSA120, Analog Man 12V supply, voodoo labs single output cable, etc) into the female end and plug the two male ends into two different pedals. Each will get the same voltage. Best not to share power with digital effects if possible but no problem with analog pedals.
You can also use this cable to get more power (current) out of the Voodoo labs PP2. Plug the two male ends into two identically set PP2 outputs, and use a standard voodoo labs cable to run from the female Y-cable connector to your pedal to power. The pedal will get twice as much current as if you used one output.
Anyone have thoughts/ ideas or experience doing this and whether it is detrimental to the tone etc.
It says both pedals would receive the same voltage. Does that mean the 9 volts is split b/w the two- Would it lessen headroom if running at 18 increases it.
Cheers for your advice one and all.
