The basic premise of these two was if you took all the possible Fuzz sounds and divided them into two piles - one crazy and one normal ~ and then made a pedal out of each pile --- you would have the Crazy CAF and the Normal PPF 8)

That's a really good answer. I was going to be less kind to the PPF
I love my CAF. It's the wild beast of fuzz pedals. The PPF is like poridge to the CAF's buffet. That's being too cruel though. The PPF is a great fuzz as well, just nowhere near as unique.

HA, yeah I believe the story is BJ made the Crazy Ass Fu uh Candy Apple Fuzz and Harri asked if there could be a tamer fuzz to cover the more normal fuzz guitar tones --- so they together cover quite a range of fuzz tones................then throw in the Folk and Snow White/Artic white fuzzes for even more flavor variety..... 8)

And the PPF is the most "overdrive-y" of all the fuzzes. It's a great pedal, and can be used to dial in a variety of textures ranging from traditional or "normal" fuzz sound through some of the overdrive spectrum. The PPF was designed for guitarists who would like the sound of a fuzz with the playability of an overdrive.

SWF does this too.....i used it last weekend with the gain cranked all way DOWN, and tone all way UP....it was very nice!

I agree, but the PPF even more so. If I were to draw a line of continuum and put the CAF on one end and the PPF on the other end, the SWF/AWF would fall somewhere in the middle.

I don't think the CAF respresents the wildest/craziest end of the fuzz spectrum when you consider pedals like the Zvex Fuzz Factory and some of the other wild ones out there. The CAF is definately aggressive / rude / snarly, but not so wild or crazy in my opinion.

I agree completely. I meant if you were to draw a line of continuum on the BJF spectrum ... guess I should have been more clear.

Ever hear the UltraLord pedal? Now that thing is insane. Donner has one.
