So these are all really good sounding fuzzes,,,I believe they are all silicon, not sure about the Disaster fuzz. Please chime in if anyone knows otherwise..
I mainly was running these thru a Strat>clean 20 watt Traynor 1x12 with Greenback.
The Fuzzface is Analogman BC109 mod. Had to crank the fuzz to be fuzzy, and crank the volume to get it really hairy, after that it really sang. Lots of subtle fuzz tones available with lower settings too.. Cleans up really nice,,maybe the best of the group for this.
DAM Meathead I had set around noon. More treble than the fuzzface,,seemed clearer allowing more guitar thru. Not as much gain in the bottom end as I would like but did like how uncompressed it sounded. Cleaned up ok,,still lets in some extra treble,,,reminded me of a fuzz>treble boost combo.
Fire Red Fuzz was set full fuzz, vol 10 and tone 11. Tone on left side of 12 oclock gives more low end fuzz, while to the right of 12 the fuzz is more pronounced in the treble range. Fairly compressed sounding throughout the fuzz range. Very tight feel,,worked nice going back and forth from chords to leads.
Does not clean up quick,,took me down to 2 on the guitar.
Pedalworks Bender Over Under was a little loose and sputtery for my taste no matter how much fuzz was set. Also as the bias increased it would take away the compression but add more volume than I would have thought as it has a volume knob too. It didnt clean up well,,gets more sputtery and is still just as fuzzy. It seemed to favor a heavy attack,,,really had to dig in and play this one, sounds good, just not my cup of tea.
Demeter Fuzzulator, possibly the biggest surprise of the group for me. Eq?d very nice,,,plenty of bottom end and top end sizzle. Cleans up very well with smooth even decreases in gain. Really liked it on the Tight setting,,gave it a more modern feel,,the loose gave it that more vintage organic wondering feel.
Great sounds no matter how much fuzz was set.
Disaster Fuzz was a quite interesting noise maker. With just the fuzz side on, it seemed to work best with my bridge pickups. No sustain, and fast note decay, not sure if Im missing something here as it was hard to use? Then comes the oscilating side,,,which flows nicely behind the what your actually playing. The intensity knob works kinda like a turn wheel/pitch bender,,moving the pitch of the oscilation., a very cool effect. The flip switch to the right gave a heavier low end, while to the left it is softer and you can here more of the guitar signal. Be careful as this on gets loud.
