Well he s aid they were studying t he 60s a school and said one of the things they used as an example is they watched an episode of the Monkees TV show ..........

now granted this was one of my favorite tv shows - but Im not sure how well it conveys the 60s ....

what would you choose to teach kids today about bygone eras ??

Granted I wasn't alive during the 60s, but it's hard to think about that decade without all of the following coming to mind:

1) Kennedy, his administration and the assassination
2) Viet Nam and the enormous effect on youth culture
3) British Invasion and the rise of hard rock
4) Space program
5) Cold war
6) Civil rights, MLK, and MLK assassination

Do the Monkees capture that decade? Well, maybe they capture a tiny slice of pop culture. Then again, what do I know? I'm from Generation Y.

thats a good point and I wonder what else was taught at t he same time --- thats often whats interesting is what things were happening at the same time but unrelated...

seems t he late 60 was hitting both ends of t he spectrum hard at the same time

the r idiculous AND the sublime....
