...Antibalas tours a good bit and originators of Afrobeat,, Fela and Femi Kuti have some amazing pieces, well worth a listen even if your not into that type of music.
Antibalas is great, saw them this past New Year's. I really enjoy Fela Kuti and Femi Kuti as well. I need to see Garage a Trois live in person! Saw Stanton Moore at the DBA in New Orleans and saw Charlie Hunter there too, but different days. Cabo, you ever listen to Lettuce? .... Eric Krasno on guitar and Sam Kininger on sax from Soulive; Adam Deitch on drums from John Scofield Band's Uberjam tour + some other good players too.
Dr. Dog is a Philly band that is worth checkin out. Best way to classify their sound would probably be psychedelic rock with a bit of a pop edge.....definitely a a 60's Beatles vibe going on some trax. Their album We All Belong is great listen from start to finish.
Can't wait to hear that new Portishead album! Long overdue, great band!
