Booster recommendations?

Postby Eskimo_Joe » Wed Apr 17, 2013 10:37 am

Hi you guys,

I would like to get your feedback about boosters. In the past, I owned the Red Rooster Booster and the Baby Pink Booster, but it's been a few years. Since that time, the Mad Prof Ruby Red Booster has been introduced. It seems like the Ruby Red offers the best of all worlds, but I'd appreciate any user reviews / comparisons.

Anybody compare these head to head?

Thanks,

EJ

PS My main use for a booster is taking an already dirty signal (clean amp + dirt pedal) and boosting the volume during lead parts.

PS #2 Although I love the BJFe/MP stuff, if you have other booster recos, I'd be open to those too. Thanks!

Cornish ST2 kinda does it all? Boost + EQ
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

I found a used Red Ruby Booster on eBay that I'm going to try. Is that basically what the Cherry Buster is???

I do not think so. I think it is supposed to be a Red Rooster Booster/Little Red Trebeler/Baby Pink all in one box. I used on at the end of my chain for almost a year. I liked the switchable buffer and it is nice to be able to run the pre-gain up and volume down and get some dirt. Once I got a buffer for my SBEQ I let the Ruby go.

I've been mostly a lurker over the last year, but I am also interested in what you find out. I love the BPB and keep thinking I just need to get another one... foolishly sold my last one.
