How would you line up your BJFE Dirt pedals?

Postby thetoneseeker » Sun Jan 15, 2012 7:09 pm

I currently own a BBOD, SYOD v2 and a DRD and have a MHvT arriving soon and was thinking about how to line them up on my board.

Currently this is my set-up:

Guitar in--> AYA-R Compressor -> BBOD -> Okko Diablo Gain Plus -> SYOD v2 -> DRD -> Neunaber Technology Chroma Chorus -> Boss DD-2 ---> out to Amp

When the MHvT comes in it'll either have a permanent spot or I'll switch it back and forth depending on what I need for that weekend's service.

Can you guys share on how you've lined up your dirt pedals and if it has made a difference?

Any criticism on my set-up would be greatly appreciated as well =)

The only change I'd make is to move the SYODv2 to the end of your dirt chain. It sounds fantastic as a tone shaper to smoother other drives if you stack them. Personally with what you have I'd probably run them like this...

BBOD >> OKKO Diablo >> DRD >> MH >> SYODv2

Hope this helps

I agree with Cliff 100%! SYOD at end. Generally, I prefer to run my dirt Highest Gain>Lowest Gain. In this case, however, the BBOD is not the highest gain pedal listed, but it still should go first as it doesn't generally stack too well being driven by other pedals, which is a BJFE rarity, as most BJFEs play quite well with other pedals. A BBOD does sound great stacked into a HBOD and so on.

I generally do the same with BJFE, however, with the MP SHOD I like to have that first to boost other pedals, or should I say used to.

The other factor is if you use 12 or 18 Volts with a pedal it needs to be experimented with. I also find for the EGDM the only thing it likes going in is a Treble Booster style or the Purple Humper.

How did it work out for you? I used to love my SYODv2 and thought it also stacked well at the end of the line. Such a beautiful design IMHO and worked so well for my rig.

It worked out really well Steve! The SYOD v2 is great when placed after my DRD. I either stack it with my DRD or use it alone.

Mt set up has changed quite a bit since the last time I posted this thread.
Currently I have a HBOD DLX and a Model R, and have been trying to find ways to incorporate them on my board.
I'm not a big pedal stacker kind of player, I usually just use 1 dirt pedal at a time.

My set up is:

Guitar in -->KORG Pitchblack Tuner-->Sea Blue Compressor-->DRD--> Model R-->SYODv2-->HBOD DLX-->Neunaber Technology Chroma Chorus--> DD-3--> Amp Out

I put the HBOD DLX last because of the independent BPB in it's circuit. From what I've learnt in the past, it's good to put your booster after your dirt pedals.

I'm still experimenting and have not found a fixed set up yet. Plus my LGW is on the way and I have no idea where to place it yet.

Any comments will be appreciated =)

I would place the LGW right after your Model R. The LGW into the HBOD is magical!

Mike, I tried out the LGW + HBOD stack for 2 solos in church yesterday and it was awesome. GOOD advice!
