My approach has been to plug in my guitar, play for a while and then just leave everything turned on while I'm off doing other things around the house. With the lights in my music room and old single coil pickups, there's always some sound going through them. :)

Just a heads up. Evidence Audio has a price increase starting Jan 1! SO, get them now if you can as copper keeps going up in price which means raise the prices or cheapen the cables. :green sad I am sure Tony won't compromise, so he opted for a price increase. I would suspect certain brands will choose to keep prices steady and cheapen the product.

What is most strange is Forte is much more expensive for long cables than Lyric HG!

Just tried this after running the cables for a while (probably not quite the full 40 hours yet) but the difference is definitely noticeable. The old Mogami lead from guitar to board sounded really flat and lifeless compared to the Lyric.

Right, now to replace my speaker cable with a Siren II before the price rise.

What's the general opinion of which EA cable to use for patch cables? My board is quite tightly packed and I run my current mogami 6 inch patch cables bent like a horse shoe. Is the Lyric cable going to object to that kind of treatment? Am I better off with Forte do you think?

Opinions are most welcome. :study

I will try and take a pic of my board and show you what I have done to mine. If you have a really tight board you would have to see if they will do Lyric with switchcraft ends as they don't usually offer it that way. The Neutrik ends take about another half once of space which adds up!

I can hear the difference between Lyric and Forte and just put 3 Lyric patch cables on the card to finish the board in all Lyric. Yes I am insane, but I know what I like!

I should probably make things easier for you and post one of mine. Ignore the non switchcraft/Mogami cables. I'm mainly concerned whether the Lyric cables will object to being treated like the Mogami ones on my board.

These are a few of the more extreme bends I did with Lyric HG. Remember to experiment and see if you would benefit from having the ends 180 opposite directions as Lyric HG will not twist at these short lengths. I forgot to do a close up of the connection from MHvT > HBOD which goes off the side of the board, then under and up to the HBOD. It has the 180 placed jacks. I also have another bend from the Timeline to the SBEQ which is a little crazy though similar to the Fulltone MDV-2 > Octron (silver). You can get a sense of the size of the Neutrik jack verse the Switchcraft jack on the purple Orbit flanger shot.

The place I get them from is really good about sizing and are very clear on their site on how to measure the length you need. You can note if you want an 11" or something by choosing 12" and say cut to 11". The other thing to notice is the Neutrik jacks are much longer, so I would advise adding an inch or two to what you think you need. http://www.earsproaudio.com/index.html I got less than 24 hour turn around last week! I used to wait 2- 4 weeks for Lava!

I picked up some bulk Siren II and a few ends, so I can try it in my two combo amps and build a dedicated cable for my attenuator. I do have extra to do my 2x12 cab, but now I just need time! :banghead

Really good advice from Scott on thinking about which way you want plugs to face...

Trust me you can not twist Lyric HG or Forte, but Melody will. The nice thing about the 180 degree opposite ends is if you have a top jack next to a side jack it can just lay over the box. I do that in several places, but I go a bit longer on the cable so it looks like a question mark. ?

I have been cleaning out my guitar closet and I found a big bag of bulk Monorail and a bunch of 3 piece solderable (only) ends. I don't have time now, but I will go through it and see what is in there. I am yet again trying to raise money for some zexcoil pickups.

Is there a trick / technique to getting the Lyric HG cables to bend like that? I've got some 6 inch ones with pancake jacks and they don't seem like they'll be happy with bends as extreme as yours.
