Quality patch cables and buffers

Postby thesjkexperience » Tue Sep 27, 2011 12:25 pm

It has taken awhile but I have converted the patch cables on my board to Evidence Audio Lyric HG and EA Forte when I need to bend the cable. I have 11 pedals on my PT2 and a 12th pedal out in front which might be a wah, fuzz, treble booster or a great BJFE. The sound is now so good I don't need a buffer! I lose a very small amount of volume and a bit of high end, which is actually a good thing, so I kicked off my buffered MP RRB and have my old SBEQ as my last pedal which is either used as an EQ or as a booster. All the punch is there as is the body. So many cables lose volume, body and punch. Especially solderless!

I just thought I would pass this along in case you were needing cables. They have a great warranty, so I think I should be done with cable upgrades unless I drastically change my board layout. I just wish I would have gone this way in the beginning and saved a lot of money! But, live and learn I guess.

I recently picked up some monorail soldered cables -- looking forward to seeing the difference from solderless lava mini elc

I went from Fulltone soldered cables and tried the lavas. I was changing them out a few at a time and by day two I thought my amp was broken! No low end and scratchy high end along with less volume. Solid wire is the way to go. For giggles I have been thinking about rewiring a guitar with solid cable from a speaker cable I have.

I could not totally agree more. Every bit plays a part. I've been trying out divine noise cables and they've been pretty amazing. I changed my Kimber 4VS speaker cable to a divine noise one and the tone changed drastically. My tone had more clarity when I switched to my neck pick-up which used to sound a bit more muddy, and Kimber is a pretty good cable too btw!
Shows how crazy this new cable is.

I've been using their 30ft curly cable from pedalboard to guitar and a 10ft straight cable from amp to pedalboard and now my set up is more responsive to the dynamics in my playing.

Waiting on my pancake jacks before I start soldering my own divine noise patch cables with a 10ft straight cable they have. Can't wait to hear the results!

Btw anyone ever tried the Redeemer's circuit before? By creation audio labs.
