I'm curious to see what sorts of things end up here and what GC considers "boutique".

As long as quality of the pedals stay the same and they don't resort to lowering standards for quantity ala Lovepedal.
How cool to go to a local store and be able to try out the newest Mad professor offering!

Right thats always the key problem to maintain quality while increasing quantity ....

And yes people can do side by sides right there and have something to compare it to ... 8)

Does this mean GC salespeople will have to actually KNOW something about the boutique products they offer? Or, are the just shinier, more expenisive new hunks of metal for them to sell?

I have loved "picking the brains" of GC salespeople to see what they think a certain amp or pedal might offer. Pretty funny stuff they come up with.

Cheers.

i've always thought zvex took a note from Victoria amps book, by getting into the production stores.
they place the orders, zvex gets paid, the legwork is on those who paid to get their own sales.
comfortable establishment.

i don't care for chain shops at all.
their just fucking boring.

no character. no soul.
The closet thing to a chain music shop that i will go into and enjoy is Moog Audio.
i think they have a few shops nationally.

HA! I think these answers would make a fun thread itself ...... might be fun to get everyone to go to their local GC as see what kind of answers they get .... like point at the BJF design on the MP and go what the hell does that mean and whos BJF ??/

I think I will take you up on your "challenge" and go in tomorrow or Monday. I love being an ass by assking questions I KNOW they cannot honestly answer. Perhaps I should even bring in my HBOD and ask what they think is most comparable to the pedal.

Last time I went into GC (a LONG time ago), they were trying to sell me on some funky recording equipment when I went in to get a cable. When I went out to play with the Les Pauls, they were all beat to hell, the intonation was awful and there were no cables to plug into the amps with. I appreciate metal, but I always hear the same metallica and megadeth stuff. Those 15 year olds are pretty good at those. "Buy a Line 6 amp, bud. You NEED one of those. Tubes are outdated -- what my dad used to play..."

Is anyone else interested in taking this challenge?

(I'll start a new thread with this same post in the community forum for those interested in the GC Competency Challenge)
