I've been through a few. I'm currently using the Strymon BlueSky, but that would probably be a bit too hifi-sounding for what you described. I LOVED the TRex Roommate I had awhile back, it sounded warm and vintage and just like you would want an old reverb tank in a vintage amp to sound like to me. I would avoid the Holy Grail, I really hated the way that sounded for me. I've also heard nothing but great things about the Malekko Spring Chicken and the Sole-Mate.

Hope this helps

I have never played a fender reverb unit, but to my ears, spring reverb is hands down my favorite.

I have used the Holy Grail, various Boss, Spring chicken, Chicklet and Sole-Mate. Of all these I like the Sole-Mate the best. It takes moderate levels of od very well and i find it usable along most of the range of both knobs. The second best, to my ears was the Spring Chicken. It can hold its own with the Sole-Mate when using low levels of reverb. I felt that when the reverb level was too high, it got kind of funky though.

The sole-Mate is not pedalboard friendly and i have it sitting by the amp, outside of my board.

cheers

FWIW I've been really digging the Wet. The BlueSky was definitely too hi-fi sounding for my tastes.
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

Would you mind saying a little more about what makes the sole-mate an unfriendly match for pedalboards? I have been thinking about picking one up, but if it was pedalboard un-friendly, it might make it a deal-breaker for me....Thanks in advance!

I'd say size would be one reason...

Johnson, I mentioned that the Sole-Mate is not pedalboard friendly because of its size. Also I haven’t tried powering it through my PP2+. It needs 12 VAC so I think the only way would be to use the courtesy outlet on the PP2+. If you have enough space on your board, it might not be a problem though. However, if you don’t have enough space, you can either place it outside by the amp or maybe try the Sole-Mate Jr.

The Jr has two separate parts, as opposed to just one unit. The stomp is on a smaller enclosure, but the reverb tank is on a different one. The idea is to place the reverb tank somewhere outside the board and have the switch and controls on the board. I have never tried a Jr, but would assume that is is the same high quality as the regular Sole-Mate.

If you would like the dimensions of the Sole-Mate, let me know.

Hope this helps!
