I use a Cornish LD-1 before my DRD and EGDM. Never had a problem with the buffer-BJFe, but maybe I'll
move stuff around and listen closer. The LD-1 is the same buffer in the pedals.
Anyone know how the Tuner output
works on the Duplex? Is it just a isolated output before the drives? just a splitter? Wonder if I could get a tuner mute added.
I'm due for my Duplex next month, maybe I'll e-mail Pete and ask.

As I understand it, the tuner out is just an isolated out before the pedal circuits to keep your tuner out of the signal path and to allow you to tune without the distortion affecting the results.

Humm...seems weird, maybe I'll use it as a 2nd output, run some BJF drives and figure out some blend/dual in-single out...I'll have to think about it...parallel drives instead of stacking..could be cool.

Donner wrote:In response to my trade add - Mikepick and I swapped some pedals to check out and Im trying his Cornish G2 and SS3 and Tube Driver w bias knob....

And after playing them for a couple of hours of course I wanted to see if I could mimic the sound with other pedals...... :D

The G2 is a 'sculpted' fuzz and the Pink Purple will cover alot of this and some of the SS3 which is more an overdrive...

What I hear tho is the Cornish' have this sort of encapsulating buffered slight compression ....

The tones are great - really topnotch ..... but you cant uncompress them.

They are sort of Gods own Boss pedals to my ear...

with the SS3 of course this is understandable as I beleive the SS stands for Soft Sustain and thats a good description of its sound.

For this sound I would pair either the LGW or the EGDM with the PGC and this way you can get an even less intrusive compression and have direct control over it --- the trio of PGC - LGW -SBEQ can do these sounds and more or subinthe Eg or even the SYODs...

anyway thats my first dance impressions ......although thats about the same conclusion I came to a few years ago when doing the same thing with a few other Cornish peds ....and thanks Mike !!!

what do y'all think ?

Donner, you never really laid out your impression of the tube driver (at least i do not think you did). Do you have thoughts regarding that pedal -- good, bad, ugly?

I own one, and not knowing a thing about Cornish pedals from personal experience I feel that the tube driver is a rather compressed, singing sustain type box that is capable (independently and when stacked) of thick, rich overdrive/distortion tones -- even when only utilizing the lower half of the tube drive range. How does the tube driver sit compared to a Cornish or BJF pedal in your mind?

On separate thoughts, has anyone had experience with a Barber Burn Unit EQ? I also own one of those and have enjoyed using it if I have to take one OD pedal to a gig. Its versatility is fantastic, and the tones are rather solid, to my ears. The sound, however, can be quite compressed, but the option of setting the dynamic range is valuable in my opinion. It suits varying rigs and environments rather remarkably.

Cheers!

I'm getting my G-2/SS-3 Dulplex tomorrow..I'll give my thoughts after I play it at practice and the gig this weekend.
I'll put my EGDM in front and see how it stacks..I guess i like the sound of the Cornish buffer, i use the LD-1 with my rig and don't think i could play without it. One thing i can say it Pete shipped it Fed Ex International Priority, its scheduled to get here in 1 day from shipping date! freakin' overnight (more or less) from the UK to UT, USA. That must have cost a pretty penny!! maybe the Duplex only cost $400 and the rest is for the overnight shipping!
