catalinbread wrote:Donner, I have to say I am a bit confused by this post... Perhaps I am misreading you? But the WIIO is not a copy of anything... Shoot I can't even afford a Model H to copy one, spent too much money going to the source:

Beyond that I have far too much respect for Bjorn to take such shortcuts.

Anyway folks I won't get into a detailed WIIO discussion here, but will on our forum. http://www.catalinbread.com/forums/

Thanks!

Well as they will find out there are subtlties in BJs circuit manicuring that you may not even notice until you put something next to it.......this ones been under development for a couple years now...

good luck cloning this one

Hi Nicholas,

You know I am tempted to send you a Model H just for fun

Uh that looks like big fun you've got there- woof woof said the speakers

I got to play a WIIO and I can say well done Nic, that's a fun pedal and unlike anything I have heard or played before.
I'll form my thoughts and can write a review on your forum

Back in the day I'd run a Hiwatt tubes were expensive as they are now so often they run to the last electron and then bandwidth falls over time while amplification remains constant.....makes for a mellow tone.

Oh and I really don't think the wink qoute was in anyway directed at you but it is however interesting that even though I merely prototyped the Model H still someone appearently wants to clone it.

Oh well
Have fun
BJ

Radiosdead, since you posted this a while ago I am assuming you already got rid of the WIIO. I have a WIIO v.2 and love it. I have never played a Model H so I have no idea how the two pedals compare to each other.

When i first got the WIIO i wasn’t digging it. I contacted Mike at catalinbread and he recommended me to use it at or near the end of my pedal chain. He also pointed out that in order to perceive the wide dynamic range of the pedal, it is important to get good headroom from the amp. I first tried it with my les paul loaded with pearly gates humbuckers through my 5 watt amp and wasn’t able to perceive the dynamics of the pedal.

Next time i tried it with my strat loaded with single coils through the same amp and it sounded much better, as it responded better to changes in the guitar’s volume and tone knobs. I boosted it with DLS v.2, Hellbender, Keeley Rat, and Direct Drive and it sounded great too. Hopefully tomorrow i will get a chance to boost it with the EGDM and maybe the HBOD.

cheers,
jon
