Actually when it comes to music gear, the success or failure of 2nd hand units in the marketplace often determines the success of the product in the first place. High used value encourages the "investment" mentality and makes customers feel not so bad about paying a higher original price. Since the used price is higher they feel they are taking less risk and are given the feeling that they can "unload" the gear in case they don't like it (or need drug money more than gear ) at no monetary loss and perhaps even a small gain. But I'm sure everyone here has seen that fuzz movie by now and knows all about this.
