can anybody tell me WHAT THE FUNK this is about??
i feel real stupid.
all i see is a freakin SHOE...its never too late to learn they say, so please help me out, please
Lol, it really is just a decorated shoe....... each lady in the Krewe of Muses decorates a shoe and then they throw it out into the crowd, so there's probably 300-500 shoes that get thrown out along the parade route and a lot lot lot of people trying to catch souvenirs, I think the chances of getting a shoe are probably close to 1%. That's just the % for that one parade, but if you count all the parades (there's about 50-60 official parades), Muses is the only one that throws 'em out, so that'd make it a even smaller chance. To most it is just a shoe, but to Mardi Gras revelers hoping for one of the ultimate parade prizes, it is pretty close to the top of the list!
There are actually some super cool non-official parades, where they don't throw things to you, but they do some really cool stuff. The drummer in my band has a favorite called "the Bass Parade" where a bunch of bass players meet up (uprights on wheels and bass guitars with little belt-clip amps, etc) at 2am on Frenchman St and start parading down the street. Pretty hilarious, it was started by a music prof from Loyola.
Probably should have been posted in the lifestyle section, but hey you never know, maybe someone will trade me a CS-40 for it and if so, then the post is definitely in the right spot
