which Jazzmaster?

Postby cosmonaut » Mon Jan 26, 2009 5:04 pm

i have been ruminating over a Jazzmaster "Thin Nitro"....

Elvis Costello Signature $1600
or
'62 RI Thin Skin Nitro $1600
or
'59 RI Thin Skin Nitro $1600 ($1700 for the white)

The '59 Thin Skin Nitro in Sunburst has more sex appeal than the '62's with the matching headstock... [looks cool on Jaguars, not so much with Jazzmasters]..
'62 is eliminated...

So now it's a battle between Elvis & the sunburst '59 Thin Skin Nitro!!

I've never played one. They remind me a bit of Gibson non-reverse Firebirds, though.
Get in where you fit in.

'59 Thin Skin for me - flatter radius and bigger frets is a massive plus from where I'm standing.

However, you already have a Thin Skin Jag with those features so maybe a Jazzer with the vintage radius and frets (Costello)
would be good. 8) It will play differently (apart from the scale difference) thus maybe changing your playing style slightly
which could lead to new sounds/tunes.

Plus, the Costello JM has a cool and different look!

do it fast if you're gonna buy new!! fender prices already just went up on sweetwater and will probably go up on MF/GC very soon too.

EC JM is 2k+ on sweetwater now!!!

The necks are slightly differrent.

i have
small hands
and i suppose
short fingers.. like sausage links haha.

plus going from 24" and 24.75" to 25.5" scale length is going to take getting used to anyways...
so i wanna be as comfortable as possible.

Does anyone else have hands like ,mine or fit all three criterea below?

• small hands
• short fingers
• usually plays best on smaller scale-lengths?

i am curious as to what you play..

tia
