i would try a power conditioner, you would be able to tell if it worked right away,,if it does not work, most places offer a return.

The Hum X eliminated 1 of 2 noisy sine waves.... the second seems to be from within the amp.... Maybe i have a blown tube.
The noise is about 55% eliminated.... 45% is still annoying.

is it absurd to put a boss NS-2 where my attenuator used to be?

You mean between the amp and speaker? Yeah, that would be absurd. Well "destructive" would be a better word.

What sort of noise is it, buzz? hum? Smooth sounding? Blatty? Very low like below low E or about an A? Yeah, honest this can help diagnose.

I recently had a three week old AC30cc2 with a faulty power tube in for repair under warranty. So it wouldn't be the first time a tube went on one of these.

A#
buzzy hum

it might be the power tube, yes, but i 'd better eliminate other possibilities before opening the beastie.

what does A# tell us?

K check this out...

Took my Jaguar to Real Guitars in the city... i'm geting it setup and modded a little bit..
it's actually pretty quiet... so the guitar is fine.

Brought my amp upstairs from the shop and it made absolutely no noise!!!
The power in my pad just sucks...
