New Year's Resolutions (music edition)

1) Find a band -- I loved my last band so much it's like I needed a mourning period -- well, that has gone on way too long -- time to rock!

2) Learn more theory -- I'm tired of facing the same old obstacles -- time to do some theory work and increase my music IQ

3) Buy as little stuff as possible -- I'm lucky to have what I already have, I need contentment, not more stuff (with the exception of new / new to me BJF pedals or a "too good to refuse" deal on a 50's fender tweed amp) :)

4) Spend more time playing and spend more of that time focused on improving

5) See more live music

6) Host a BJF Fest and hopefully meet some of the fine folks on this forum

I'd agree with lotsa those, but specifically buying less (even selling a few pedals off) and playing more. And I'm always trying to get out to more shows.

Probably too busy with school to find a band for now, but I'd love to learn more about circuits and building effects. I think I can find the time for a couple more projects too.

spending some time learning analog electronics would be good. there are so few people on this earth who actually UNDERSTAND how they work anymore, everything is digital SMD hi-tech etc....

analog electronics are becoming quite esoteric knowledge. we need MORE people to learn them, and hopefully it will not die!

i'd say joe's list is pretty close to mine

honestly last year was my first major tone-quest GAS phase, before then I'd had a pretty simple guitar center kind of setup. it was a fun year, but I feel like I've found about 98% of the gear I really want/need, so this year is absolutely about getting back to fundamentals. I'm also gonna take some hardcore lessons--I've never had a teacher I've really gelled with and have spent so much time just trying to teach myself... I know I don't have any serious bad habits to break but I also know there is a "next level" I've yet to break through to. Hopefully I'll get there soon enough :D

yeah buying less is up on the list for me as well, and to stop trying to fix what is not broken
also I must finally give in and learn pop tunes. :|

All dittoes !!!
Both thru necessity and reality checks Ive gotten much more 'selective' --- for years I was one of the guys that bouhgt the newest coolest things first whether I needed them or not

Im sticking with what I figured out years ago, BJ has the best ear for circuit tuning and way more knowledge than most of the other designers combined, so other than messing with the Fraternity and a couple amp thingies , Im pretty much sticking to here this year. 8)
