Modding the hell out of my strat, a story.

I always use HSS strats, pretty boring but I like how they can do everything I want in one song with one guitar.

I have an early 90s metallic red 50th anniversary strat that I really like a lot, it is very resonant and plays very well, one of the nicest guitars I have tried and I have tried a ton. I like it better than my boutique high end strats as far as resonance and playability goes. I hated the lace sensors in it, but it sounded good even with them. So I started modding the hell out of this thing and making it my number one axe so I can free up some big cash and buy other stuff by selling the boutique strats.

I bought some Lollar blondes for the neck middle, and an imperial in the bridge. Now the thing sounds great. But it was too loud and buzzy. So I did the mod here to quiet it down and it sounds fantastic http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/shielding/shield3.php. It was now very quiet and sounds great with the lollars. Used orange drop caps and didn't bother with the 400uf cap that makes you not die as it was not there to begin with, I just did the star grounding loop right on the pickguard.

The guitar had a pearloid pickguard on there and the humbucker was uncovered and I hate the look of both of those. So I ordered a mint green pickguard HSS that is cut square and will fit a covered bucker http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0268623914, and finally tracked down an F spaced nickel cover http://www.bestguitarparts.com/guitar-p ... pacing.htm. These were a major pain in the ass to find.

I bought the callaham block and bent saddles for the guitar with the short trem arm. I set the trem to float 1/8" and set up the hipshot that came with the guitar properly. Works great and stays in tune. I usually block the trem but I like this one even before the callaham block/saddles.

I used copper tape with conductive adhesive from stew mac 1 2" roll did the old pickguard, the new pickguard and the cavities on the strat and I still have some.

This guitar friggin smokes now. I will post a picture of it soon it is nothing much to look at anyhow it is beat up but my other HSS style guitars are getting sold and I am gonna find another one of these and do the same thing to it for a backup.

I have constructed my own light saber.
