seriously.
go buy it.
read the article.
I just finished writing my "letter to the ED", and I just had one letter to the ed that made the Oct 2008 issue.
30 years of being a reader and I have never written them. Now, twice in one year.
here's what I sent to Michael Molenda, who is the ED, and also wrote the article:
Dear Michael/GP Magazine:
Over 30 years of being a GP reader, and now TWICE in one year I am writing a letter to the editor. Either you are doing something very wrong, or something very RIGHT. I believe it is the latter.
I want to applaud your testicular fortitude in publishing the article in GP 12/08 issue CARLOS SANTANA on Harnessing the Power of Wonderment.
While it is quite easy to fill a month's worth of bodacious vernacular concerning gear, scales, and other trappings of the guitar universe -- you have printed an article that MEANS something.
And I want to thank Mr. Santana, who has been an inspiration to me since I was 12 years old and bought the album "Caravanserai" because the cover looked so cool. THAT ARTICLE has proven to me that he is indeed one of the most spiritually evolved beings evoking magic upon the six strings of life that we all play.
I am making a little photocopy of that article, and am going to carry copies of it in my gigbag for every time some younger guitarist comes up to me at one of my gigs and asks me questions about how to play guitar.
That was easily the BEST article I have ever read in ANY guitar magazine in my nearly 40 years of being a guitarist.
God/Buddha/Krishna/Higher Power --- BLESS YOU CARLOS FOR SAYING AND PLAYING THE TRUTH!
"a red guitar, three chords, and the truth"
Bobby DeVito -- guitarist at large
now, it's YOUR turn.
go get the magazine and read that article.
and let's discuss what that article means to you......
TRUST ME.......
go buy it.
