That's tremendously sad. We've got to find a cure.

I am gutted that he lost the battle - at least he'll be feeling good now.
Condolences to his family and friends.

NO FUCKING WAY....no...no...no...no.......

gaddamnit.

I knew Bob, he lived a few miles away from me, and we did some gigs together.

He, like Bjorn, is one of those effects builders/designers that can REALLY play well on guitar.

Bob used to show up with this cool rig, two Fender tonemaster 2x12 cabs, and a tonemaster head, and a pedalboard full of his effects.

He had one of the most awesome tones of any other guitarist in this area that I ever played with.

I knew he was getting worse.....damnit......I kept trying to get him to come to one of our thursday "jam nights", and I even told him I would come pick him up, carry his gear, and bring him into the club so he could play.

RIP Bob Sweet....a gentleman, guitarist, effects builder, and cool guy....

I wish I would have TAPED those gigs we did together.

One of my fans has been harassing me for years, because I do not carry around recorders to capture my live shows.

But I sure wish I could put up a youtube video or a sound clip of Bob playing live with us those nights.

There are VERY FEW nights in my life where I am intimidated by the other guitarist on stage.

But Bob's playing was so pure, so sweet, and so tonally wonderful that I just played rhythm as much as possible just so I could listen TO HIM.

And as Donner said, he really was a nice guy.....

this was hard news to wake up to

Donner et al,

I don't get to spend much time here these day but this news just jumped out at me for a couple reasons.

First, I never knew Bob Sweet but I knew when I saw all the folks who pitched in to help him financially when he was diagnosed that he must be a pretty special person. I was also proud to see it happen.

I don't know his circumstances in terms of family but I would imagine that the battle is not yet over for them with my somewhat intimate knowledge of medical costs these days. That said, I was wondering if there any sort of move afoot to perhaps help the family through this time. Don't know if this is the right forum for discussion of such matters but would be willing to make a contribution if there is a need.

Wow, I am indeed very sorry to learn of this. I didn't know Bob personally, but I knew of his reputation as being one of the true stand-up guys in this business. I hope he is at peace and that his family can find strength.

RIP Bob.

Bob was indeed a really special guy.

and as another poster said, there may be a mountain of medical bills left over for his family....so if that is the case, I think there are many of us who would be willing to donate just a little to help.

This has been a really rough week......more than I can say in an email or post on a messageboard.....

this is such sad news...I only had brief contact with bob, but from all of my experiences he was a wonderful person. From reading his posts on the forums as he got sick, he seemed to put forth a positive outlook/hope that was courageous to read.
Its crazy what how this universe can shift upside down for individuals and their families so quickly...
