That's a shitload of money for the most basic of Wahs. But, then again, you've got Jeebus
cold lampin' on your pedalboard everytime you wriggle around on that sweetspot in the Wah.

More so if yer amp's cranked & it sounds heavenly.

I always wondered why the boutique wah market did not make a high quality volume pedal/wah combo.

Maybe that idea makes baby Jeebus cry.

I'm not much at reading schematics, but I'm wondering what makes the SupaQuack all that & then some... At least most of what I've read says it's the grail of wahs...
Is it simple parts values, a custom wound inductor, or maybe tweaking by ear with careful parts selection?

I have a Super Quack up for sale in the TGP Emporium, in my opinion it's just a "good" wah. Now the Area 51 Wah, is a great wah, better then the SQ and RMC3 I used to have. Every pedal made to order, took 5 weeks from Paypal payment to delivery. Opted for the Fuzz buffer, Quack control and LED light, just under $300.00 and well worth it.

Yeah 400 beans alot for a wah, looks different inside and out from the older ones too (other than the hieroglyphics).

Not sure about all the tech aspects either, I think some of the old ones are also a bit different from each other,,, probably depended on parts available and what his ear was hearing at that time.

Wah seems to be a very personal effect, kinda like fuzz,,, one will never please every one.
I have an older SQ which for me is near perfect in sweep, smoothness and vocalness in clean setup, also very quiet. However its not really comparable to some others with heavy distortion/fuzz. I havent played a new one, but I would Not say its holygrail of wahs,,not sure that there is one.

For more versatility I do like the 51’s ,Wizard and after many years finally found my setting on a Rmc3 w/buffer.
I sort of felt the same as Dchord did about the SQ as I did about the Landy wah I tried being just ok..
Price not too important if you can find what you like and can use,,I used to be fine with old crybabys until they would break in 3 months, I really need to learn to make my own!

Most stock [modern] wahs don't need more than a decent pot [metal shelled Allen-Bradley]
and a Whipple inductor to sound like the wah you've heard in your head.

As for Tropical Fish, I've tried 'em and went back to the clear Polypro ones that were
found in stack-O-dimes period Cry Babys. Of those four, there's two that can
effect the wah's vocal qualities.

But honestly, the components of the cap have little effect on the overall Wah performance.
There's a barely audible change in the "quality" of the imformation percieved, at best.

#1 Hard & Fast Rule:
No one will tell you how life changing your Wah was to them after a show.
