Forgotten Friends (Rediscovering Old Favorites)

Postby Donner » Mon Jul 21, 2008 10:59 pm

My wife went out of town this weekend and we were searching for some road tunage for her and I came across a couple CDs I wore out a few times, but lost touch with:

Mathew Sweet - Girlfriend

John Gorka - Temporary Road

both kind of great songwriters that dont fit cleanly in any one genre

and both early 90s when my style was changing yet again

found any old friends lately ??

I was hesitant to chime in here, because what I have re-discovered is really not very cool!

It's DEVO! I've listened to all of it, including Duty Now for the Future which was considered a sub-par second album.
They've still got a sense of humour!

Yeah, and I think Mark Mothersbaugh has even done a few movie soundtracks as well.

This will make you laugh - I saw them live last Thursday here in Melbourne!

It was a good thing, but they had aged a lot, one quite badly. This didn't bother me in the least,
but a couple of muppets hanging around outside after the show said they were shocked at how old they were.

Ha, yeah I think they were a bit older when they broke so they would be older than thier contemporaries of course ....

I saw a vid of Iggy and the Stooges on thier current tour and yup they look like dads --- which is cool and I think needs to be seen more
