Interesting..

for me it´s other way around. I hardly listen my cds and IPod is kind of a "backup thing" in rehersals. For me it is LP at home. Quite a many records I have as a cd and LP, but what I listen to is LP´s.
With computer I don´t listen to music, exept on youtube and myspace - but not so much to mention.

Some of the "classic records" are reissued nowadays on 180g LP, sound quality is really good.

Used to be ipod and computer for most of undergrad... it was somehow easier that way in the residences.

The last couple years, at home I prefer records but it usually ends up being CD's because I'm lazy. I pretty much just have the ipod on for music at the gym... I can't put up with the terible remixes of 80's pop/rap they play for the step classes that are always going on.

No car, and don't usually listen to music on the bus.

half the time dvd on tv,
and the other half its downloads or dvds on computer. mostly dvds over cds,, I always shoot for added visual stimulation when I can.
dont get much chance to listen in the vehicle, not much on compressed files if I have a choice,,I could see it altering ones hearing.

I have recently changed "living circumstances" and find that I have more time to listen to music than playing it so I often put cd's in "thee stereo" and I must admit it is better than my computer.

I also end up listening to my iPod quite a bit when I'm running/exercising. Before I left the Air Force, I was invlved in research involving hearing protection for pilots as airplanes are very loud. For long term hearing conservation, we eventually convinced the Air Force to buy custom poured ear phones/plugs with the mics embedded in each which worked well to exclude outside noise and also made audio much more intellible at lower volume levels since the mass of air near the ear drum that was required to be "moved" by the mic was quite small. We started using them first in the F/A-22 (very loud airplane)then moved on to incorporate them into other fighters. I was fortunate enough to get a pair made for myself during the testing phase, can't recall the company but can find out over the weeknd if anyone is interested. Bottom line is, the iPod with the custom ear plugs is way better than with the "standards" ones.

The stereo, vinyls and cds. Occasionally an old tape on a Revox A77. Have pretty good sound system with the computer but use it mostly for musical wall paper not to really listen to music.

Stereo for me too (CD and vinyl), music on the PC and TV just comes over as background music.

If I had a big bunch of amplification and speakers hooked up to the PC or TV though, things might be different.
A friend has a very good system based around his PC as a music server, but if you go this route always remember
to continue to listen to whole albums all the way through from time to time, it's important!
