I love Kirk's playing too! In that vein, I also love Kid Ramos and Nick Curran. I wish Nick would put out another solo record, but I think he's started up some sort of punk band now, which is cool, but a waste of his tremendous talent imo.

yep, its called "Nick Curran's Attitudes".
I've seen both Kirk and Nick with the T-Birds last year in switzerland...they were both great! Kirk played just thru a EH holy grail into an AC30 and had a HUGE sound!

Cool, that's new since I last checked in on him, he was doing something that had a spanish sounding name I think. Cool, I'll have to google that and see what's new.

i''d like to add Chris Whitley as one of my modern guitar inspirations.....he just passed in the last year or so, but he was not afraid to try new things and often made them work....his last album was just brillant and was at the top of his game when he passed...i had the pleasure to meet him on several ocassions here in Chicago, a place he always played when he toured, and he was very knowledgable, soft spoken, and one outstanding human being....he did so much more than "Big Sky Country".....

and Tom Waits is another modern music hero....he is just stupid talented....

Mick Taylor live is just crazy....what a Talented guy !!!!...( when he's sober )

and of course, the big D , Duane Allaman !!!......

I would like to add a BIG second to Chris Whitley (R.I.P. dust brother)

he was a friend, and influence, and just an all-around magic man. DIN OF ECSTACY - check it out. one of the top ten albums of the 90s, hands down.

I also like Philip Sayce, who is playing with Melissa Etheridge these days.

Another guy NONE of you have heard of -- my friend Yvan Agbo from Senegal. He does some gigs with me down in Key West.

those guys are awesome. My fiancee was organized a festival with a not-for-profit that had State Radio as the headliner. Real nice guys, and they are sick.


I actually been listening to hardcore music lately, something about the interesting use of time signatures has got my attention. A few measures in 7/8 then two in 4/4 and one 6/8 then back to 7/8. So technically interesting!
