Dude, is it just my SWF or are all the pedals commanding over 150-200$ than they were just a few months ago. I guess the Model R and the SWF really started to bring up the market value of our beloved pedal line ! (Good and Bad news I guess)

Ahh Steve, you always are pretty spot on. I guess I was surprised too at the Model H not selling at 500$. I think they're just more available now. People are trading them in more often than they have in the past. Just this past 2 months we've seen like 5 or so listings on ebay. Some are just being bought and resold. Regardless, the honeybee at 650$ is too much considering there are like 592 of them in circulation. Its interesting that despite being the most produced BJF pedal, it doesn't show up on ebay that often. Still doesn't justify 650.

I think that the high price is due to the fact that the seller is Australian. I think I've heard that gear is (especially imported gear) really expensive over there and that's probably why the gear he has listed isn't in line with normal prices

Hmmm so who's the seller who's been reading this thread? Seller dropped 100$ off asking price :)

Exactly...an obvious often overlooked detail in sales motivation with anything, every time this season it always happens.

While I don't doubt that a few big ticket sales of legit BJFE rarities is what made other dreamers think any ol' BJFE (which are still cool and fairly rare pedals, don't get me wrong!) was worth mega-bux, I disagree with the assertion that it has, "started to bring up the market value of our beloved pedal line !". Look at the overall record. The ridiculously priced BBODs, LRTs, RRBs, and so on that have been put up since the MR and SWF sales did not sell. Even pedals with solid resale values, like the MH, have recently went without a bid when listed in the $500 range, which is what they always go for! So, no new benchmarks for the overall line are really being set, it's only happening for a few select and rare pedals. Asking $995 for a BBOD doesn't make $995 the going rate for one when it receives no bids.

Now, I'm sure there are other BJFE rarities that would also generate mega-bux.

Yeah, I've mentioned this same dynamic before already in previous threads. People can ask whatever they want, doesn't mean it's the new price point. When SteveA first put up his Snow White at opening bid of $400 it went off with no bids...2nd time listed, all it takes is a couple of zealous buyers(and in that case three) to drive up a price, and establish a false high. If that first time it went up to only $600, that's what people would believe they are worth generally, and maybe those other two wouldn't have come out of the closet so quick....Model R is the same thing too..both pedals realistically with rarity considered should be more squarely in the mid to high $600's.
DAM pedals, same thing happens(Fuzz Sound is a good example, very few out there because of limited supply with previous sales over the $1K mark and then:

http://cgi.ebay.com/D-A-M-Fuzz-Sound-MK ... 20b04a5994

etc, etc. If we say the market determines the value, then one source like Ebay cannot and should not be the sole determining guideline...too many emotions, misconceptions, misinformation, timing in the market depending upon the season and the overall condition of the economy in general.

Hmmm not quite. I listed the Snow White only once. If I did a double listing it was within hours of one another to change something. So lets get the facts right. Secondly, another SWF sold within hours of mine for 800$. It wasn't a one off occurrence. Given that the Arctic White should command higher prices and mine was an in-between, 800$ for a prototype and 900$ for a later model. Btw, all 3 of the top bidders for my SWF ended up buying one. One for 900$, one for 800$ (the other one on ebay at that time), and a the third one is now on sale by one of my bidders.

The market does determine the value BUT if the market never sees pedals as often as we do, the value is determined by what the global market sees. Example : pedals are traded here very often (ok the snow white isn't a good example because it is rare but pedals seldom get on ebay aka EvilBay). If the community here wants to have an accurate representation of what the market thinks of the BJFE pedals, they should get listed more often. Otherwise we are putting a value on something ourselves when we trade only within our group. That being said, I really think the 10% price for trading on ebay is ridiculous. Also, I love the fact that I know almost everyone in this community (analoghog, melodichaos, bsic, sonictroubadour, jdandry, strings2wood, slimhenderson, cabo, stratolux...) . So I do value the community tremendously. However, when you refer to market price, be sure to know what the market thinks before putting the value on it.
