Single output jack for 8 Ohm speaker. Sorry, no 4 or 16 Ohm taps but there's no danger in running a 4 or 16 Ohm speaker, it will give the amp a different (earlier) break up behavior and somewhat lower output power.

Sometimes even 3 watts can be too much. Before you ask: there will be no headphone output. It's easy to produce SPL well over 120dB in the ear canal with headphones . We don't want to cause hearing loss, remember, this thing is louder!

so it can be played thru a 16 ohm, 4x12 cabinet safely , but it just won't be as loud?.....

Well, I think it's not a very good idea after all. This is a SE output stage and as such it's rather sensitive to load impedance mismatch especially if you load it with 2x higher impedance than nominal. Going lower to 4 Ohms is less problematic.

What can you do?
You could rewire your 4x12 to 4 Ohm - still not optimal but would work. I suspect the sound will be a bit thin though as with less than 1 watt available for each speaker they won't be moving enough air to flap a handkerchief in front of them, not to mention your pants - isn't this what 4x12 are for :?:

Here's a wild thing  to do since your cab has 4 or 16 Ohm speakers:
Rewire your cab to stereo 2 x 8 Ohm, you need one extra jack (and maybe but not necessarily a switch for reverting back to mono 16 Ohm).
Get 2 Louder & More heads each feeding respective 2 speakers in the cab.
Run your guitar through a Y-splitter (cable or buffered) into the 2 Louder & More heads.
If your cab is already mono/stereo pre-wired you're home free.

Louder & More heads will be ca 12-13" wide so they should fit nicely on top of the 4x12

How about that  :?:

Its only fitting that my first post on this Forum should be related to both of my good friends, Mr Louder, and Mr. More.
I regret that I did not even know this Forum existed until yesterday, but you can see I wasted no time in getting here once I was aware of its existence.
I see there is plenty of good reading here, and I have some catching up to do.
But in the meanwhile, I'm glad to be aboard.
Cheers, and Happy Summer Solstice!
Barry
P.S. I immediately guessed correctly as to whom the alias' Mr. More and Mr. Louder were assigned.

Thanks Guys.
Its nice to know this Forum exists, and I'm very excited about this project combining the talents of both Bjorn and Alek. Of course I'm already on the list, and watching the progress of the amp from concept to reality with great interest. I've always been a great believer in Louder and More!
BTW, Let me properly introduce myself: I'm Mr. I. Gotta Haveit

My personal preference is Option 3 but with the speaker installed. Being that I am from Australia it does not really matter that the speaker has to go USA->Sweden->Australia as I have to import the speaker anyway. On top of that I live in the center of the city and there are no amp techs here and of course we cannot use solder equipment in an apartment from a legal perspective. So, I would have to import the speaker, import the amp, deliver both by courier to my amp tech in the suburbs, get them to install and test the speaker and then courier it back to me. That is quite an expensive process. Therefore, it is usually cheaper just to import the combo as a fully completed unit than it is to get someone to add all the bits locally.
