This is the case with many good quality pedals and almost all new guitars (not to mention almost every other new item we buy in life).

The solution is that BJF pedals should go up to a new price of $500 plus.

Yes, this is true...also a valid point. New cars depreciate the moment you drive them off the lot, etc.

However, I respectfully disagree with regard to the $500 plus price point idea for the BJF line...mainly because that would price me (and most guys I know) right out of the market.

I agree wholeheartedly - I was just voicing my fears as to where this conversation might lead to!

$500 plus would certainly price me out of the market!

It is worth noting that the Mad Prof pedals are very nice pedals, and in certain circumstances can be as good as, or maybe better, than a comparable BJF pedal. I guess it's all about supply, MP supply is higher than BJF so prices for BJFs will always be higher. The positive is that it is much easier to get a MP and that's got to be worth something to people in the initial purchase price that they don't mind losing on re-sale?

There have been a lot of great points mentioned. I think that most of the problem is due to the exchange rate at the moment and that the mp's are still very expensive. Although i do not feel this way, as mentioned I think some people would rather have bjf pedals for a little more money because the mp pedals have a much lower resale than the bjf's that hold their value and are more established (i have been waiting for the right price on an lgw!!!). For some people who don't have that much money to spend it is important to be able to resell for close to what you bought the pedal for. Anyway, its very interesting what has come out of the discussion so far, so keep it up!
