I just got my TOP back with the correct chip in it to enable the slower speeds and it makes quite a difference! (thanks BJ, thanks Donner). It sounds really fantastic.

I'm ordering a TOP. Are there ones out there with the wrong chip? How can i be sure I've got the right one?

Hi,

There was a problem with one batch of TOP's, and it was a potentiometer of too small a value. I believe all of those units were updated with correct pot. Those in Sweden I fixed myself and those in USA were fixed with the benevolent help of Don and all others were sent back to Finland.

So all TOP's are the same now.

Have fun

I will be able to contribute to this thread quite soon, as I got lucky and my Father-in-Law bought me a TOP!

It's with USPS right now somewhere between Chicago and Australia according to my tracking info.
Really looking forward to it! I'm no expert on phasers as this will be the first one I've had (I suspect it may be the last one too).

This is a little off topic, but can the TOP be run at 18v for increased headroom?

My TOP arrived and it sounds great!

Just one problem - it clips something terrible with my R8 (classic 57 pickups), and I hate to say it but it's unusable with the bridge pickup alone.
I have one other guitar with P90s but it is vintage and doesn't get played much, so I have to get the TOP working with the LP or return it for
something else I guess. I'm more than happy to modify it (get it modified) or maybe it's just the nature of the beast, the MXR Phase 90 was
pretty easy to clip, so maybe that's the phasers are.

It does sound good though!
