HoneyBee NewBee says hello!

Hi there,

Just received my first BJF pedal, a HoneyBee that I traded for an Analogman Sun Face NKT-275. I'm happy!

The serial under the battery reads HB235. I was told by the seller that this was an early HB and that he had taken it over to Bj?rn's place for some adjustment to make the Nature knob more like recent standards.

So far I'm very happy with the pedal and look forward to play a lot more. When adjusting the Natureknob I get a lot of change between 7 and 12 o'clock but not so much between 12 and 5 o'clock. The change between 12 and 5 is more evident at higher gain settings. - Then I can really hear it, at lower gain settings I hardly can, or really can't. Just wanted to check and ask if this was normal?

I didn't know the BJFs were covered with goop inside, but mine is! But I'm a newbie. So far I especially appreciate the almost fuzz-grainy sparkle of the Honeybee. It seems like a great compliment to my Timmy OD. And stacked I get a very rich sound at modest gain settings on both pedals. The Sunface I could never tame - so it seems like a great trade. It might look an even greater trade to Americans, but I'm in Sweden so Sunfaces are worth more here.

Soon, and yes it will be soon, you will find yourself scouring the internet for more drug... um, I mean, more BJFE in different tastes. So! again, I welcome you s welll as my other addicted brethren...

I am a Newbee honeybee here as well.

And.. YES/// I just got my honeybee only a couple of days ago. finally I can put my old friend TS808(RI) to the rest.
I really like the lowend on honeybee and OD texture so far.
nice and warm.
Volume is little under powered(?).. I have to mess with it some more... I got to try out higher Voltage adapter to see how it does.

yes welcome and resistance is futile .......

a couple things to keep in mind

BJ usually gets more out of 3 knobs than other builders - the nature knob being a good example...

the neutral/beginning point is at about noon maybe 11 oclock on some rigs -

from there as you turn left it beefs up a bit and then adds a good deal of lowmids and bottom - this also changes the drive knob content -------turn it from noon to the right and you get a more norrmal tone knob - so yes nature is sort of two response curves in one knob and its interactive with the drive knob....

and usually the entire range of the knob is useful so do things you dont normally do like turn the drive down most of the way and turn t he level well up and see what you get......

oh another thing about the HB is it likes a good amount of input - it is a dynamic pedal and the more range of level it has to work with the more you can manipulate the dynamic range and distoriton of the HB....

so use all your guitars and see how it reacts differenly with each one...



and it also likes to mix/'stack' with other pedals so try using it into another pedal or try driving an obnoxious fuzz into it or a compressor or ???? try it all - follow your own ears.....
