Thank you.

And Donner.. Thank you for the info. I been messing with it against other OD pedals and it does have its own magic to it.
I just need to get use to this Nature control.

(I got to try out more BJF pedals!! If I can get hold of it...)

Hi again,
So yes, now I've been playing around with the honeybee a lot more. So nice! I doubt I've found out anything that you people don't already know. For my type of playing (altcountr rhythm guitar, semiclean) I tend to go for two different settings: the first, all controls at 10 oclock. The second with the drive lowered to 9 and with volume and nature raised to 11.

My other OD-pedal is a Timmy. While some might find them both in the "same" lo-gain territory for me they complement each other very well. When I found the Timmy I was thrilled to get a an OD that didn't cloud/mud what I was playing. Just adding a touch of break-up to my strummed chords was/is great. I really appreciate its transparency and great EQ. I usually set it for all controls at 9, plus volume at 11.

The Honeybee gives me something different. It's not at all transparent, it clouds the sound - but what a nice warm cloud it is! My electric guitar experience is limited and whether or not the HB is tweedlike or amplike etc - I can't really testify. But if it is tweedlike - hey, I'm out looking for a tweedamp next. I love the dynamics of the pedal, how I can adjust my picking (soft/hard) and apply distortion to single notes just by digging in harder.

For me, the Timmy turned out to be the OD that wouldn't get in the way of my playing (strumming). Whereas the Honeybee really makes me want to improve my playing, something about it makes me really fall in love with the whole idea of classic electric guitar sounds (classic rock, blues etc). That might be a strange or downright silly statement to make on a forum full with guitarplayers - but I'm originally from the acoustic sound of town and really is the folky singer/songwriter taking up the electric guitar just recently.

I got the Honeybee in a straight trade for an Analogman Sunface NKT-275. Nothing against the Sunface, but this pedal is so much more MINE. And when you get a piece of gear that inspires you - you can't really ask for more, can you?

Cheers,

Carl

PS. With gain and volume maxed, and nature knob at 7 oclock I get a very bassy almost fuzzy overdrive sound... which IMHO almost could be a Sunface substitute. DS.
