we really need everybody to chime in here on this thread and finally get one place where people can come and find the max voltages you can run every BJFE pedal safely....i've learned it can make a beautiful difference in the sound...but i really don't want to risk frying my pedals, so this thread would/should help protect everybody and there pedals...alot of info is out there on the standard pedals, but the custom shop stuff is a little more vague....please share all your knowledge, and no guessing please !!!......these i started with i got from owners manuels on custom sounds website...since most transformers supply 9v, 12v ,or 18v 's i stuck with those voltages to run at safely....

BBOD =..........................MGMV= 18v max.........AMWM= 18v max

PPF= 12v max..................RRB= 18v max...........SBOD= 18v max

EGDM= 18v max...............LRT=.........................TOP= 9v max

BPB= 9v max....................SYT= 12v max...........MRD= 18v max

HB= 12v max....................R= 12v max...............DBD= 12v max

SBEQ=..............................VCF=........................CH= 9v preferred, highband losses at 12v

PGC= 12v max..................SYOD=

PPF and SBEQ can take 18v, I know the PPF manual says 7-12v, but I and others have run it at 18v without problems.

I am a complete voltage novice and have just a general question. If I'm running my pedals off of Voodoo Lab Pedal Powers, how would I go about changing voltage?

well, i'm learning all the time too Matt...right now i'm using a Voodoo Pedal Power 2+ right now....they have Isolated grounded outputs !!!...some others don't.....my favorite aspect is Voodoo makes extra cables you can buy...they have a doubling cable ( 2 outputs into 1 cord end ) that makes 2 9v outputs 1-18v end....also each output has a DIP switch that makes that individual 9v output into a 12v output....it just makes for a really flexible power suppy !!...it also has a Sag control if you want to control & lower voltages below 9v's, and it has 2 L6 outputs that can put out 9v's or 15-16v depending on the DIP switch used...

i have heard that they can take 18v's, as well as some others, i'm just worried about any short/long term damage, if any...i guess only Bjorn could answer some of these...especially with the Customs as they do not come with any manuels/instruction sheets or specs....

Voltage for various models. Limits are set by safe range for parts used or when sound deteriorates on the high side and on the low side when sound deteriorates. For some models usable voltage window have been expanded through the models life

All models can safely be run at 12V's. Some models can be run at 18V's and some even at 24V while 18V is practical limit.

Some models like DRD may have more interesting effect at lower voltages.

anyone ever try the CAF, FF, or SYT at 18V? I would love to hear impressions before i go out and aquire some adapters

Hey all,

Just tried the CAF and SBEQ at 18 volts. Very impressive!! With the SBEQ I did not notice a huge change besides a volume increase..maybe a bit thicker in the low end but hard to tell really. The CAF fattens up quite a bit at 18v. Gives that center nature position a bit more hair,(not that it's lacking). Seems to make the fuzz a bit more punchy and defined. These are not huge changes but they are there for sure. If you have a CAF it's well worth buying an 18v adaptor just to have the option.
BTW, if you've not had the pleasure, the CAF is a monster fuzz - best I've ever had.
