Just wondering if the model R is safe to run at 18vdc? Howzabout at 12vdc?

hI, just wanted to shoot this to the top,,, I was curious as well.

not to get off topic but it maybe nice to have a reference thread where it lists all bjfs and how much wattage they can handle.

All BJFs can 12vs

many can do 18v

the R will do up to 15v ( but not 18)

so try 12v first should give a touch more headroom and fidelity....

It's worthwhile to download the manuals from custom-sounds, each notes the voltage range of the pedal in question near the bottom.

Off the top of my head, MGMV, PPF, & SBEQ are definitely ok at 18v and I prefer all three that way, especially MGMV and SBEQ. I'm almost sure the EGDM can take it too.

The EGDM can handle 18v. I need to get myself a power supply that can do a variety of voltages...

I went with the Burkey Flatliner mainly because they could make it with two 18v outputs and three 12v outputs, plus three 9v and all isolated too. This was the best way I could find to enjoy the BJFs with extra voltage and still have them run as quiet as with batteries.

Thanks to all for the info! I have a model R here that I borrowed from a friend to test out, but I wanted to be sure about 12 & 18 vdc before I damaged his pedal. I run all my BJF's at 18vdc, except my DRD, which I only run at 9vdc or less. I like how they sound at 18v much better, & I've done this for going on 3 years now. More headroom, more clarity, & more touch sensitivity! Yeehah!!

Hey Cork, mine was from Brad at http://www.tonefactor.com and new it came with two 18v, one 12v and five 9v outputs. I had two of the 9v increased to 12v when I had cause to return it to Burkey in Holland, following an issue which developed when changing it from 110v to 230v operation.

They are great guys to deal with and upgraded the outputs by way of compensating me for my trouble. Pretty cool considering I bought from the US to save money with the exchange rate.

The 18v outputs are not on all models, they're called the "Tonebone Mod" but can be used with any pedals. Brad can order Flatliners from Burkey with or without the 18v option. It's one bulky power supply, but it's beyond excellent, I find it much quieter than the Pedal Power 2 I had tried before.

Actually, Cork, I just browsed the Burkey Site and read the details for the new Flatliner Six. This looks like the ideal supply for providing extra juice to your BJF collections, 6 isolated outputs of 100ma and each one switchable in steps for 9v, 12v, 15v or 18v.
