What is everyone listening to?

Postby I am Incinerator » Sat Dec 08, 2007 11:21 am

I know this thread is on TGP, but I thought it'd be fun to see what fellow BJF users are listening to.

After about a six month long tear of listening to al.country and other rootsy based rock/pop bands, I'm feeling a need to take my leisurely music listening time with musicians and bands that are part of my community (Omaha, NE), and some others.

Right now I've been listening to.

The Shins- Wincing the Night Away
The Good Life- Album of the Year
The Good Life- Lovers Need Lawyers EP
The Good Life- Black Out
Little Brazil- You and Me
Tilly and the Wall- Bottoms of Barrels
The Ataris- Welcome the Night

Lately I've been listening to Sister Rosetta Tharpe. This YouTube video really juiced my ears for low overdrive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeaBNAXfHfQ Her tone is amazing.

Dylan (all of it, all the time)
Built to Spill (Keep It Like a Secret)
Pavement (Slanted & Enchanted)
Ramones (Rocket To Russia)
Television (Marquee Moon)
Will Oldham (Particularly old Palace Music)
Nirvana (Nevermind, Incesticide)
The Wipers (Is This Real?)
Wire (Pink Flag, Chairs Missing)
Frank Black & The Catholics (including the Pixies and the first 2 Frank Black solo albums)
I could go on and on, but these have been in heavy rotation lately. Dylan's a staple. 70s punk, EARLY 80s hardcore punk, and early-mid 90s indie rock are staples. As long as it's honest, I dig. And that list is just the rock stuff.
