There is one for sale already on the second hand market for 375 on the D*A*M Forum. Super surprised about that.

I have a concert coming up in December for which I am hoping to use the Sparkle Face.

Yes, it's for sale here as well in the BST forum. I'm still holding out for the DIY effort as I have most of my gear funds wrapped up in parts and enclosures and whatnot so I can't justify buying anything for a while.

I will definitely post my thoughts and possibly a clip when mine finally arrives... :)

They attempted to deliver it yesterday but I wasn't in :(

My apologies for not posting sooner, but since it arrived I have been traveling for work, and catching up since my return.

I spent some time with it today and will be posting my thoughts tomorrow.

duaner58 had his for sale but he'd already posted his thoughts about it...

I was tempted to buy it.

Looking forward to hearing what people think.

Sounds like Mr Juhl is pretty happy with it.

My apologies Donner and Bjorn. Same with analoghog. Not quite the professional gear tester/researcher yet, so work has taken its toll on my schedule. My home studio is also being encroached by permanent infant lifeforms.

With that said, I plugged her in today!

I used an EJ strat into an OS21 (looking forward to using my telecaster soon), and she completely sings. My direct experience with a variety of fuzz boxes is probably more limited than some of you scholars, but I recognize the different colors by memory from live and recorded settings.

Others I own / have owned include the Pink Purple, Candy Apple, Arctic White, Sun Face white dot, DG-1/2, Pig Mine / Pink Flesh and a couple other Muffs.

...

The pedal seems to have significant output, but I wasn't running the amp beyond neighbor-friendly levels.

The blend of fuzz and saturation took me a little bit to get used to. I found that I preferred more saturation than fuzz for riffing, but the reverse for rhythm fuzz tones. Between the two controls, you can balance the girth and responsiveness of the output, which is quite versatile and effective.

The lower gain range is wonderful and can accommodate a variety of uses. On certain settings, I found my guitar's volume knob (again at lower amp volume) was not very useful, as the effective drop-off in desired tone/volume was too much. Expansive tonal range in this gain territory.

The available gain is significant and warm, plenty for any purpose I would have. (What is the accepted voltage range of this box, Donner? Bjorn?)

I know some commented on interest in some EQ adjustability, but I found that I was happy with the stock tonality and could make necessary adjustments in other ways. I generally prefer fewer knobs, as I notice there can be some annoying tonal suckage as the circuit gets more complicated (e.g. I prefer SYOD1/2 with 3 knobs vs 4).

Bjorn touted the ambient volume of the pedal during build, and I have to say this little guy is a whisper--just sits there nicely without hum or fuss ... only FUZZ.

Certainly a keeper for me, as it rips when needed and provides lower gain prowess, which is where I spend the majority of my time. In terms of anything I would modify,.. not sure at the moment. Still need to hear how the pedal responds at live volume and get a taste with the tele.

Having played just about all of the production run of Bjorn's product line, I would rank this in the upper crust as it suits my style, needs and equipment quite nicely.

ak47's video on page 7 of this thread is a great reference.

Cheers.
