Greetings,
I am putting together a new pedalboard and just hooked up my LGW. I have some different chips I want to try in it. I was wondering if a JRC 4558 will work in the LGW? I never hear that one mentioned so want to check before I put it in.
I also have the LF353 and a TLC272 to test and also want to try a OPA2134PA but have to order one.
Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the info, Don.
I just tried the JRC 4558 and it sounds amazing! Here are my settings:
LGW (JRC 4558):
Vol = 10:00 +
Body = 9:30
Drive = 10:30
Guitar Vol = 8-9
I ordered an OPA2134PA from Smallbear and I'm looking forward to trying that one, too. It's nice to have choices.
Thanks,
Jim

I've built a few mod'd tubescreamers and I do very much enjoy the OPA.

Yeah one thing thats cool about the LGW is becasue its lower compression it really shows the differences between the op amps and you can bend it to your choosing more easily ......

I have an early MP LGW (# 0012) and would like to find LF 353 and perhaps other chips to swap. Where is the best place to buy them? I checked on ebay but most are made in China. Also noticed TGT11 sells one for $25 but sold out. On ebay I saw 10x for $5. Where are you guys getting the chips and is quality control a major issue?

cosmonaut,
Let us know how you like the different chips. They all sounded great in different ways. I decided to stick with the JRC 4558D for now. What's nice is that we can have multiple flavors of the LGW with the simple change of an inexpensive chip. My second favorite is probably the LF353N.
They all sound good.
