Candy Apple Fuzz Silver and Gold

Postby Donner » Fri Sep 20, 2013 10:21 am

The Candy Apple Fuzz is one of Bjorns original BJFe circuits (along with the BBOD and DRD) ... it was made to cover the nastier side of vintage fuzzes and it does just that and more ... over the years the one recurring request was to make it a bit smoother and more musically manageable ..... when it came time for the BearFoot version he did just that by adding a treble control to reign in the rasp as needed... and he also adjusted the circuit to germanium transitors, which are smoother and more musical to most ears..... BUT silicon has its own musicality and many just like the full on unruliness and extra rip of silicon..... so coming very soon - the original silicon formula CAF .... Silver/Silicon Gold/Germanium

Exciting news! Even though I think I might prefer the germanium sound, it is still very interesting!

Which one is better suited for octavia sounds? I just LOVED the octavia sound of my BJF, but had a hard time finding other settings that worked through my amps. Does the germanium version do octave sounds as good as silicon?

sing! :music

The BF CAF is one of the few pedals I bring to every jam though iirc the original had more distinct sounds than the BF gold. Another one of those things you don't need, but can't live without! I'm going to be selling of a bunch of stuff soon and if it all sells maybe a CAF silver can come out to play.

...Yeah I love the GOLD as it is more musical than the Silver - but the Silver is like the BJF with a treble control ....... they are certainly different enough to warrant their own models .......
the Silver has the more distinctive Octave and gating .... they make a good pair too and stacking ? :confused2 :angryfire :glasses

Does anyone have the CAF Silver? I'd like to hear a comparison with the CAF Gold if anyone can do that please. :notworthy

I finally got so frustrated at the user unfriendly-ness of my Strymon Timeline I took it off the board and am using a small TC Flashback. If it only had the ICE setting I would be happy. It has freed up a space for more of Bjorn's :bjorn designs!
