Mad Professor MRD Issue

Postby Jagattack » Mon Jul 29, 2013 10:46 am

Hi, long time no see!

Like many I have been struggling along for a time - something else would come up.

I have a mint looking MRD hand wired that I scored a while back, and finally I have to face the fact that it doesn't work right.
Done loads of tests on it now, and then forgot about it for a while, but it has hardly got any distortion! Loads of level, tone knob
seems to work ok but there's really not a lot of distortion, just some when it's maxed out.

Did anyone ever hear of a similar scenario that occurred with the Tiny Orange Phaser where a couple slipped through with the wrong value
pot for the speed or something? Some people weren't able to get the speed slow enough or fast enough - can't remember the exact story.

This is my only theory at the moment (and it is ONLY a theory) - wrong pot used on the distortion control thereby not turning on enough of
the distortion circuit. If anyone knows what value pot should be on the distortion control I could pull my MRD apart and have a look?

Cheers :)
