#2 landed :mailbox and my first impression is that it has a bit more gain and is more "juicy" than I remember the Mystoury fuzz being. For now I have it in the Purple Humper's space until I decide where it should be. I have way too many great pedals now! Poor me.

I used it as a boost into my Honey Beeatch and it had a similar sound to the EGDM>HBOD but I feel a lot less compression with the AWF versus the EGDM. And, it did work well into the EGDM with the volume just above unity and the middle knob around 3 o'clock and I was able to get a very satisfying faux treble booster sound with a big jump in volume. I do not know why this happened as both pedals were set to unity and together it jumped right out and does so in a very pleasing way. My only hypothesis is I didn't have this guitar (Black pine Tele with steel saddles and a Rumpelstiltskin 1950's black rope pickup set making my tribute to the earliest Fender solidbodies) last time. The pickups are wound to almost 11k Ohms and when I had the tour box the hottest pickup I had was a Klein Epic Broadcaster with thinner wire and very little magnetic pull.

I played through my AST Jr with a Night Light on it as well as my usual AST Pro at jamming volume. I am glad I took the plunge as I prefer the production version to the Mystoury to the best of my recollection. :music

Phew :phew ... just banged out three demos in a row of the BF EGDM, PPF, and Mystery Fuzz so you will hear shortly when I posted them what I'm hearing. Treble range, at least from 12 noon to full CW gives you more bite and clarity throughout that swing at lower and higher fuzz settings comprared to the BJF...now that I had a chance to crank it a bit unlike before, I hear the evolution from the BJF AWF...a bit more refined but still loose and vintage-y sounding, about 10-15% more gain, and has the right amount of wooliness compared with the BJFE...really sounds vibey and nice...I would venture to say it's the best  version yet

Interesting, as I heard less clarity and bite in the Mystoury when comparing to my AWF. I do agree with the "more refined" statement. My AWF is more raw and in-your-face.

Yeah, in all honesty, I recently sold my BJF AWF, and it was an early one, #8, though I remember the sound well through my rig, so I don't know if yours may be a bit brighter overall than maybe mine was?
I've been through many of the same BJF's(Model H, Model G, BBOD, etc), and found while they all do what they're supposed to, some will overall have more top end than others(and vice versa).
At least on mine(AWF), I found the treble pot on the MF to have more useable range from 12 to full CW, as opposed to the BJF where I tended to run the treble full up all the time...and this is through the same rig with the same guitar, same p/u, etc

I go back-and-forth with my BJF AWF. I run a treble sensitive rig -- strat/tele w/ red rang, deluxe reverb -- so I love the range of the tone/nature knobs on BJF and Bearfoot pedals. I am totally in love with PPF and find it more usable in what I do, but I love the tones of the AWF as well. Silky smooth soloing, grungy, attack-sensitive plucking, sweet rhythm rock sounds -- these all scream AWF. Sometimes, I miss the character of less precise fuzz boxes (hence my liking for the PPF), and the AWF, with my rig, misses the mark.

Either way, the AWF totally rocks. I am glad to see it in the Bearfoot line.

Very classy, Donner. Keepin' it classy.

I'm excited to hear this one, too. The "O.G." Smokey Orange Fuzz was mine. It broke my heart to have to sell it.
