Red Rooster Booster, I love you...

Postby Your name here » Fri Jun 07, 2013 9:27 pm

Wow... So, I finally got one of these. Had I known just how beautiful it was going to sound when pushing my amp and dirt pedals into overdrive, it would've been one of the first BJFe's I bought! It's SO GOOD... Tightens up the sound just enough... I love the fat sparkle it imparts. I'm seriously knocked out by this pedal. So far I've used it to push my Model G's, my AWF and all of the pedals in the Bearfoot fuzz toubox with great effect. I'm also using it first in the chain to take advantage of it's awesome buffer (this one has a buffer :-)), which is doing a great job of alleviating the slight tone suckage that came with my recent switch to a Lava Retro Coil from guitar to board.

Anyway, for a good time, call the Red Rooster Booster!

Here's a pic I took:

Yeah, I've heard that can be nice... Bobby D's demo of those two together sounded great as well. Honestly, I'm very satisfied with my current drive selection though... But you never know. If a good deal on the right DRD were to present itself....

Just got my first BJFE and it's a RRB. It really shines
pushing my little 5 watt Kay practice amp (don't laugh!). Just the right amount of grit.

Thank you Scott! I'm on my way! :salute

Yes, it's a fantastic pedal. I actually have an old 8-watt Montgomery Ward-branded Valco 1x8 combo from 1955. The RRB (as well as Bearfoot BPB or SBEQ) sounds absolutely killer hitting the front end.
Get in where you fit in.

How does the RRB compare against the BPB?

The BPB is VERY clear and buffered. The RRB is warm, gritty and (in most cases) unbuffered. The RRB has a great deal more boosting capability. I love both, but if I had to live with one, I prefer the BPB. The buffer is absolutely incredible and rivals the likes of Cornish buffered boosters.

Hope you can enjoy them both!

Either way, glad to hear you are chasing the purest of tone.

Cheers.

I miss the RRB I had. It really does sound amazing with small amps as well as pushing my EGDM and HBOD I had. It was absolute magic with a Tele into my TopHat Club Royale. The RRB>EGDM>HBOD was a solid dirt chain for me...(why did I let go of them?!) :banghead
