Just bought a Model G, what am I in for?

I really really liked the V1 HBOD that I had, but wanted a little tighter sound. Have I made the right choice in the Model G? From everything I've read I have, but I'd love to hear what some Model G owners and players have to say about the pedal.

I think you'll be pretty happy. I think the MG can get darker, brighter and cover more dirt range. Instead of sounding like a 5 watt amp beyond it's limits, it sounds like a loose 30 watt amp beyond it's limits. Very old school american sounding dirt.

Agreed... I had a v1 Honey Bee and while I did like it a lot, it was sometimes too dark for me. The Model G is my favorite drive by far. I like it so much that I may end up eventually getting a second one.

Sounds awesome! What settings are you using? Are you using the G for light od, or maybe some good old distortion?

Lately I've been using it with the gain at noon and Nature and C knobs just set to where they approximate the bypass EQ.... I've never preferred a big change in my basic EQ when stepping on an overdrive. I think that's why I get along better with the Model G and my BBOD and EGDM than I did with my Honey Bee. I can set the others in that magic spot... Not too dark, not too bright. I never could get my Honey Bee quite there... It would be ok with some guitars, but too dark with others. I've never tried a v2 Honey Bee, though....

I think the MG is the only pedal I have that I don't have any "regular" settings for. I'm always changing the knobs around for different songs, different amps, different guitars and it just sounds right at pretty much every setting.

Sounds like it's an "all things to all people" type of pedal! I love it! I'll be posting a review as soon as mine comes!

I noticed that the ad for the one (I guess that you) bought said "rare finish"... What finish is it?

I know there's 1 all gold, 1 all white, and at least 2 or 3 that are all black out there. I believe the rest are black mottled with gold.

Yeah, I've seen those... Mine's one of the two or three (that I've seen) all black ones. Just wondering what else might be out there. What does yours look like? I don't think I've seen it... There have been some really neat variations among the black and gold leaf ones.
