Honey bee questions

Postby mudster » Sat Dec 01, 2012 12:01 pm

Hi, I've been gone from this forum for at least a year, so I hope some folks I know are still hanging round..

I was wondering 1) Are Honey bee's still in production and available for order? Do you know shops that have them?

2) How does this bearfoot compare. It appears to have an extra gain stage, is the sound the same (is there a setting on the extra gain that essentially takes it out of the circuit leaving the original tone?).

Thanks all,

The Bearfoot's are very close to the BJFe's with the regular BF HBOD sharing the same circuit as the current HBOD. Bearfoot also offers several variations on the circuit including extra gain staging (Honey Beest) and adrker like the first of the BJFe's (HoMey Beeatch).

I have owned the BF Honey Bee and the Beest as well as a BJFe HBOD. The 2 Bee's are as close as any 2 BJFe pedals can be with parts tolerances and pedal individuality taken into account. The Beest sounds like a 50 watt half stack Supro instead of the 5 watt combo Supro of the Bee.

BJFe Honey Bee's are still available through Thesegoto11 and CustomSounds, no idea what the current wait time is though.

I have played the Honey Bee Deluxe and I really like the way the gain can be turned up. I would think that an extra gain stage would be a nice option if you don't stack pedals. Good luck!

The Honey Bee Deluxe is a little different than the Beest I believe. The Deluxe has the Baby Pink Booster (flat eq very transparent boost) after the Honey Bee circuit while (I think) the Beest has more of a treble boost type of boost going into the Honey Bee circuit.

The deluxe also has an internal trimmer that controls the overall gain in the circuit. Not sure if it's exactly the same as the BF Beest but it's supposed to be quite similar if I recall.

Honey Beest (pregain is the internal trim on HBD) into Baby Pink Booster = Honey Bee deluxe :glasses
