Congrats on the find that's really awesome!!!
The older pedals seem special....I mean with the HB I clearly love older ones made very early on but those did have some parts differences as the circuit evolved.
My current EGDM 3k is much newer. So maybe I won't notice as much change, can't wait to find out.
Hey one thing is for sure, we all seem to really love the EGDM. Personally I like the way it adds compression like a pushed amp/speaker & the dynamics of it. I find I have my preferred setting but still dial in many different ways. Never leaving my board!

To me one of the greatest things about the EGDM is you can run a treble booster into it and get the early Rory Gallagher or Queen sounds!

I don't want to bring too many other pedals into the thread but... I've been using the Paul Trombetta - KUSH for my boosting right now & I can't say enough great things about it. It's certainly capable of overdrive as well and is very dynamically responsive.

I just received my old EGDM 3K in the mail, and I cannot wait to play it again. I was playing around with my EGDM4K the other day, and it made me VERY curious as to what my old one sounds like. Tonight, I will find out and report my findings. I anticipate some warm, girthy rock and roll in SoCal!

Cheers.

Oh YEAH!

My old EDGM is just as I remember it to be: incredibly warm, bold and powerful. The 4K is just not as thick and girthy as the 3K. Glad to have 'er back home.

Hope to hear your explorations!

Cheers.

That's sounds killer! My 4K is coming soon, mines from the 2nd batch from thesegoto11 so it hasn't shipped yet but soon. I think I would love an early # Honey Bee & EGDM. But can't complain since they all sound good, I feel very lucky to have them. I'll be sure to see what they sound like side by side. I can only keep one so they must dual it out haha.
Thanks for the info comparing yours. I do prefer a thicker & less bright tone as well, so I would choose same as you did.
