I really appreciate the offer cannikin but all of my spare funds are also being diverted for the meantime for my impending child. It's just can't be a priority for me at the moment.

Got the parts list from Bill so I'm going to be ordering everything this week and build up a proto to make sure all is well with the board. Then once that is a success I will assemble kits and try to draw up some sort of "build document" to help explain how to put this thing together. And hopefully while that's getting completed I'll be shipping these kits out to everyone!

Quick questions...

Should the kits include...

-- Wire
-- Knobs

???

Obviously folks will have their own solder and iron but not sure if folks are looking for EVERYTHING (down to the necessary wire) or if I should just let people take care of that on their own. It's not a big deal to get it but don't want to add the extra work if folks don't need it.



Also, if there is interest in knobs, is there a preference? I don't think the BJF ones will work because the pots will likely be 1/4" diameter instead of 4mm shaft. Donner may be able to weigh in on that one.


Oh... and one more thing... I was thinking of picking up bi-color LEDs so the LED, like the buffer, is always on, but when the boost is kicked on the LED changes color... Yea? Nay?

The Bi-color LED would be a neat reminder that your signal is always being effected by the pedal. I like it.

I vote for the bi-color led! Also, BJFe/Bearfoot style knobs would be my preference if some that fit could be found. Yes to wire, as well... I don't keep a supply on hand. Of course if it's too much trouble, I could always buy wire and source knobs myself.

I've already got tons of wire and knobs, but whatever is best for everyone else is fine by me. As far as LED's go, I'm fine with either but strongly prefer the super-bright ones in some kind of unique color. If you go that route, I can try to help calculate a resistor to get for the LED to make sure it's not blinding.

It would be nice if some like it super bright that there is some adjustment. I am almost to the point of night blindness and a bright led screws up my ability to see the board and guitar! I do not know anything about electronics, so I do not know if adjustability is going to be complicated and/or affect the sound. If everyone wants bright I can just do an orange sharpie over it and be good.

Will there be an option to use a battery?

How much wire will be needed? The only wire I have is cloth insulated for wiring guitars and I suspect that may not be good to use. Or is it? It would be cool to have cloth wire in a pedal . I am pretty certain we all live near a hardware or radio shack store and can pick-up the needed wire if it is a pain to add to the kits. I'm fine either way. If pedal building is anything like building guitars it becomes so addicting we will all be buying wire in bulk soon anyway

If you have a super bright LED you can always scuff it up (to diffuse the light a little more) with a bit of light sandpaper to take the edge off. It works kinda like putting a shade over a light bulb.
