The DIY Cherry buster is a 3-knob pedal. I believe the knobs control input impedence, boost and output impedence. The 1-knob version was made in PCB form only (no box) and has fixed input and output impedence. If you're looking for PCBs of the 1-knob version mmolteratx is the man you seek.

Sorry to hera things are so hectic for you -- hope they get better soon! Then you can get back to what's really important in life... playing guitar :music

What is this booster supposed to be like? A treble booster, a different take on the BPB, or RRB? Dirty boost, clean boost? Tone shaping or buffer?

Thanks!

Jonny Rocket, I am not ignoring you. We have had a string of appliances and other things that have failed lately and I still need to fix the dryer.

I also need to submit my SYOD twins review, but it seems every time I play them everything is different. The big surprise is I seem to prefer V1 where I greatly preferred V2 when I was loaned some Saffron twins.

No worries Scott and I am sorry to hear that things have been hectic at home with the various appliances breaking.

Hope you are able to fix them quickly and look forward to your reviews. I purchased a V2 but haven't had the chance to try it yet. I'll probably end up getting a V1 as well to compare later.

On a different topic, I'm really excited about the Folk Boost and look forward to trying one.

I see I'm on the list for 1 box and 2 kits but I think I've missed the box cutoff.....I'll take just PCB Kit/parts if they are available! Although I would have liked one of the boxes.

My location is Thailand.....

......now who do I got's to pay??

I was wondering the same thing about whom to pay.

For the electronically challenged I will pose the question. Why do I need to adjust the input and output impedance(s) and how do you know when that are properly adjusted?

Would it be wise for a never-ever to buy the single knob version to work out the kinks before tackling the 3 knob?

1. Still figuring out the paying side as far as I understand :)

2. Adjusting the input impedance changes the way the buffer loads your guitar pickups and will change how it reacts. Low impedence will sound dull. Super high impedance can sound overly bright. However, the sweet spot varies for different pickup types (single coil, P90, humbucker, etc.) and pickup output levels. Similarly, output impedance will change how the signal is seen by the rest of your pedals and your amp. In general you want lower impedance but again, there may be a sweet spot which will vary. How do you know when you've got it? Your ears should be hearing some beautiful music :pedallove

3. There will (as far as I can tell) be almost no difference in "skill level" for the 1 knob vs. the 3 knob except that there's 2 extra pots in the 3 knob circuit instead of resistors. So there's a few more wires and more solder but this would only be a minimal difference in build difficulty. If you want to test the 1 knober out though it may be useful to give it a shot first and learn to solder well and whatnot. All up to you :glasses

Hopefully the truly good builders on this board will point now out anywhere I'm leading you astray :laughing7

i think they are even board-mounted, so no extra wires.

Hmm... No big deal. I sure am excited to get my kits, though. :-)
