I tried both saffron v1 and v2 and each has it's own thing that the other won't do. I liked v2 a bit more because it seemed to stack better and worked better into a dirty amp, but v1 could turn your guitar into a laser with out ice pick.

I do not know enough about electronics to know if there is any way to get both qualities in one pedal, but this might be a case where issuing both is the only answer. You may consider issuing one as the woody orange to avoid confusion for people that haven't followed the whole story line of these pedals.

I love both versions, though I found I used the V2 a bit more regularly. The V1 is sort of like the BBOD in that it gets some very unique tones I cannot seem to replicate in other pedals. An SYOD for the masses through the Bearfoot line would be pretty sweet.

I like the v1 a lot for my lead stuff and the v2 a lot for my rhythm stuff. That's how I would usually use them.

Part of what Im wondering is - is this an either/ or situation ---- would you use both if you could get both in one box ?

For me it was either/or/both. Something in-between might be a totally different pedal altogether. The tonal difference between v1 and v2 was pretty big.

I would love to have bearfoot make a V1 and V2, but a combination would be awesome as well.

Agreed -- they were quite different IMO too. The v1 was a bright rock distortion type pedal. Fantastic aggressive sound with lots of brightness and it was more brittle in the top end than the v2. The v2 was more of a smooth bluesy OD that while bright was not brittle.

If you can put them both into one pedal without compromise there's no question that that is the best option, however if that's not possible I don't think it's a bad thing to put them into two different pedals although I'd consider renaming one or both to avoid confusion. Looking forward to the eventual release of this/these as they are some of my all time favorite drives

+1 for renaming one of them. I love both Sparkling and Saffron paint jobs. Perhaps one could be the Saffron and the other Sparkling.

The Saffron ages to a really cool mellow yellow sort of like an old white Les Paul custom.
