Never tried the BBOD -- but I'd have to recommend the MP SHOD for this purpose. It tends to be a little to biting and brittle with a clean amp (IMO) but pushing a driven amp it could definitely add some great clarity and cut. Sort of like switching from the neck to the bridge on a strat :music

What amp did you get?

I mostly run a single channel amp with natural OD and found the RRB, EGDM and HBOD were really great. I was less thrilled with MHv1, but MHvT works very well as does MR as you found out. Both SYODs worked well, but V2 worked better.

Don't forget the PGC and SBEQ also work great as boosters or to have on all the time and push the signal a bit. I know you do have humbucker guitars, so maybe it is not as big an issue, but for single coils the SBEQ is THE booster. The only reason I chose the SBEQ over the RRB is it is more versatile though it does not have quite the volume the RRB can get. I need another RRB though as I go through phases where it is just a tuner, a booster, a fuzz and sometimes a bonus pedal like the Octron or a second fuzz.

An old time member here sold me a 50 watt Bludotone that is beyond all my expectations. It's voicing is a "low plate classic" which as I understand it is a slightly lower gain 80's Dumble circuit. It also has a built in FET boost which I have been using when playing single coils. Honestly, I think I finally have an amp that I don't think I would ever sell, I have never been so impressed by an amp and I've owned some really nice ones. Now... I have not yet played a CS40.

Funny you would mention the MHv1. I loved it with my Two Rock for smokey smooth Ford'ish kind of OD, but on this amp it sounds very different. It still sounds good, but it was serving a different purpose in the Two Rock and now that that is gone, I decided to pass the Model H onto another member here. I'm curious again about the SYOD v2. I also wondered about the LGW, anyone have thoughts on that?

The Model R at low gain really did do something cool for the amp OD. Curious to hear that at proper volume.

New love... :love10 :love4
