I've inquired about the waitlist for the EGDM (this could be #4 for me) at Custom Sounds. I've come to the terms that this is probably my all-time favorite all around dirt pedal that I have tried. I can't bring myself to pay the "used" prices I have seen lately since I have never paid more than 375 for one over the years. I don't know when demand turned rabid for the EGDM but these prices are crazy . I don't mind waiting, either!

I also inquired about the RRB, but I have heard that these are OOP, but the custom-sounds site still had them showing w/o the OOP on the header. I will take the chance. I loved that pedal as well.

I have a question about the EGDM vs. the Model H, how close/different are these guys in tone? Do they stack well together? Would the Model H be similar to the EGDM with a SYOD stack??? Not that I have an SYOD...

Well, I am not sure if this helps, but the Model H and EGDM are very different to my ears. The Model H is my favorite BJ gain box, and I love it for its raw, gritty, open character. At its lower gain settings, I can really articulate things well while still having plenty of dirt in the bag. The EGDM is more focused in terms of how the gain functions. You can really dial in (via the Body control and trimmer) a focused, Voxy tone with as much or as little gain as you like. The EGDM can also achieve lower gain settings than my Model H. The RRB complements the EGDM VERY well, but I do not own a SYOD to comment on that.

I have never tried to stack my MH and EGDM together, but I would imagine the sound might be too over-the-top for me. There would be a ton of gain on tap, and I imagine the tone would be pretty wild. I guess I will have to try it to report back!

Needless to say, I find the boxes very distinct in what they produce. The MH is open, warm and raw. The EGDM is dirty, focused and powerful. They are both excellent at what they do, and there might be a small degree of overlap.

wow, sounds like I could learn to LOVE the Model H. I unfortunately don't own a model H, but I may have to get a hold of Donner and get into a Bearfoot, and maybe rekindle my other love of the HBOD! Watching some of the later Oasis live videos with Noel blasting through some Hiwatts made me take notice to the Model H. Probably not the same as playing through a trio of Hiwatts, but I'm sure it will be fun playing a Model H through my Bassman!

I was trying to hold out to see if the EGDM would become a part of the Bearfoot line, but I don't think I want to chance the availability of the BJFe EGDM should parts run out and this goes OOP...gotta do my part and atleast get on the list!

I agree on the focus and range of the EGDM. I wish I would have never sold my EGDM's, I didn't think I would miss it too much. The RRB really added some goods too, plus it was a heck of a amp booster in it's own right!

I think I have my time experimenting with Fuzz and seeing which vintage style fuzzes work for me is done, gotta get some good drives back into the stable...maybe a CAF sometime too?!

Just got a CAF in the mail TODAY!!! Perhaps I can comment on that as well once I get home to try it out. It sure is purdy lookin'.

When I had one a couple years ago I didn't appreciate it. But I think now it would really be something that I'd like. Haven't seen too many of them floating around lately...

Cool CAF day! I've been interested in this one for a while for it's octave-ish capabilities! I wonder how Superfuzz-ish it can get?

I was just spying the Model H over on the Bearfoot site, now I have to choose between 4K versitality and 3K monster tone...? I have a few weeks to decide!

The EGDM and MH are two of my favorite drives, so I will take a stab, but YYMV....

I used to run both at 12 Volts, but with single coils I found the EGDM was more versatile at 9 Volts. Being my first BJFE I thought I knew it well though it turns out I was just in a rut. I am now rediscovering the 12 - 5 o'clock side of the Voice knob. The EGDM is more versatile than the MHvT I have (I have owned several MHv1s and tried even more). You can run the EGDM from 8 to 18 Volts and it sounds surprisingly different at 9, 12 and 18 V that I have tried it. It works great into a clean or distorted amp and has so much volume on tap (unity is about 8 o'clock) that it can do a dirty volume boost for solos, get lots of distortion and will drive certain dirt pedals in a yummy way. Favorites are EGDM > HBOD, EGDM>MH, EGDM > DRD and EGDM > MR. The EGDM is really picky about what runs into it though a good germanium or silicon Treble Booster or the SYODv2 work really well.

I don't know which version of MH the Bearfoot MH and MH4k are based on as the BF MH4k I have here from the tour box sounds really good, but not exactly the same as any MHv1 or the MHvT (check the library for descriptions) I have tried. The Distortion on the MH is smoother than the slightly fuzzy EGDM and the MH is more responsive to picking dynamics. What is strange about the MH series is even though it has such great picking dynamics it has a great "keraaang!" when laying into some Townsend power chords at volume. The BJFE MHv1 really needs to be played somewhat loud for it to sound good, but the MHvT works well at all volumes. The MH, for me, has few stacking partners as it is so thick already, but the MH > HBOD stack is amazing!

I don't think the EGDM and MH sound very much alike though I think you can tell they were designed by the same person! I think the reason for the jump in EGDM prices might be threefold. There are about half as many EGDMs as DRDs or HBODs out there and there were a few months where no EGDMs had come up for sale, so I think demand is up due to many more people trying Bjorn's designs via Bearfoot and lower Mad Professor pricing. Since Bearfoot does not make a version of the EGDM the many happy Bearfoot customers are venturing out and trying to find Bjorn's other designs which seems to have kept the used BJFE market from sinking while the economy is down. Lastly, there was a rumor that Bjorn is running out of EGDM parts which has scared a few people into buying now before an official OOP tag is put on the EGDM and prices really skyrocket! I do not know if the part shortage is true, or if it is possible to find additional quality parts, so I guess until supply far out paces demand prices may stay above $500.

For me? I am not selling the two I have as they are so special on several fronts. One was my first BJFE and the other .....

If I could go back I would definitely keep the first two EGDM's I had as well as the HBOD and RRB I had. These were great pedals!

I will have to read up on the MH versions. I love Kerrang! Part of the reason why I want a Hiwatt, and why I went from playing low wattage vox type amps to a Blonde Bassman style amp!

the wait starts for the EGDM and the RRB! I got my confirmation e-mail from custom-sounds! Back in the fold for another go with the EGDM (this will be the fourth time), and this will be #2 for the RRB. gotta keep them both this time!

I also saw a couple Model H videos and I have to get a 4K when my tax return comes. The Pete Thorn demo sold me...a video he did for a Scumback demo also sold me on some M75's a month or so ago!
